For the past 13 or so years, I have been working for Rolls-Royce. Now, before you go asking whether I have the car or not, I have to clarify. I work for Rolls-Royce Naval Marine (I am a Ship Captain/Engineer). Most folks don't even know that RR builds marine engines and power systems. (Heck, more than half of all nuclear power plants around the world are built and operated by RR. RR has it's own nuclear submarine division!
But my work has been with Naval Marine. We have been building gas turbine engines (yep same as the aircraft) and Navies around the world use them for propulsion power and generator power. In the past, RR built the Merlin engines used in tanks, aircraft and patrol boats. Kinda upped the horsepower from 1200 hp per engine to an average of 30,000 hp.
