Winger 82 » Sun May 10, 2015 7:58 pm[/url]":rcje6sag]
worked on my tail light cause she was not working, tried using my multimeter (which I really don't know how to use, and noticed when I touched the leads to the fuse contacts that the tail light lit, so I tried another fuse, no tail light but put the tester back on it and tail light lit, so I cleaned the fuse holder real good and know have tail lights, but noticed that my meter never gave me a reading, I did try it on the battery before I started all this and was able to get a reading of 12.2 on the battery, guess I need some training on using this new toy

:thanks: for the replies on this :hi: :hi: :hi:

got home from henrys a little after three and went out to figure out why the 1200 wing wasn't charging. I got the belt good and tight the last time I got a chance to play with it so I started checking wires and found the connection for the exciter wire loose on the alternator. after getting a better connection I rode down the block to a friends house and had him check it with his fancy alternator / battery tester and it's charging

So you must have the 3 wire alternator?

I used a geo metro alternator

Glad you got it charging William! I actually polished some on mine today. Rare for me but I had a little break time at work.

Dropped off all the Vetter stuff @ the print shop garage for installation today. Will be ready by Tuesday @ the latest. By then the new coils should be here. An then I'll send the old ones back to dyna if all go's well I'll put those on the 77. Going to get a single barrel carburetor for the 77 build the speed shop might give me a hand setting it up. Time will tell.

Bummer, we just don't have that much experience with 1800s here.

It's ALIVE!!!! Buttoned up a few bits, got the oil and coolant in, plugged in the gauge cluster. Cranked it over with the left valve cover off and plugs out just to verify oil to the left head...all good! Putthe valve cover on and plugs in, then remembered that i wanted to fill the carbs while i cranked it but forgot to turn on the fuel tap so i turned it on and cranked some more.......flipped the kill switch to "on", hit the button and it was running instantly. I let it warm up, maybe not quite to full temperature. No leaks anywhere that I could see & for not yet having the airscrews and sync adjusted it sounded pretty darn good. Now I can get busy with getting the forks and fairing back on and getting back on the road.

Maybe one of these days we can meet for a ride and snack. I'm only about an hour west of you. Could meet up at Tonidale maybe if I ever get a day off work.

Sounds like a plan!

Added a creature comfort to the 1200 - a USB charging port. I also had to move my highway pegs to the back side of the crash guards. It seems I have more room on the 1200 than I do on the 1100.

Got my new coils today... :music: :music:
