I've been having trouble with my carbs again, this makes about the forth time I have taken them off. They were just poring gas out the overflow, so this time I checked everything twice. And one of the floats is full of gas, so I've ordered another one. Not going to try to fix the float, pain in the butt to take off the carbs.
Aussiegold just got a Gl1000 set back from PistolPete and he couldn't be happier with the quality of the job and their service :good:

I'm just going to replace the float

That should take care of your problem. One needle leaking past the seat, with the smallest speck of anything causes the same effect, :Awe: so make sure everything is spotlessly clean. Floats are often badly stained, but still function fine, but one full of gas is a big issue. When you get old one out & dry, wonder if the hole in float, or seam of it could be sealed, with heat from soldering iron, & A B S epoxy??? :headscratch: Spares of ANYTHING laying around, come in handy. :thank_you:

Pulled a nice big nail out of the back tire, plugged it up and got back on the road!

Is that the new tire?
No, that was the S11. Picked up the nail somewhere right before getting back from Florida and this was the first chance I had to look for reason for the flat. I haven't ordered the new tire yet. $$$$$

This bike is being de-chromed. All shiny bits are being painted with Krylon Hammered Black (which is really a very dark gray). I love the finish and it hides a multitude of evils like scrapes and rust. All lenses cleaned inside and out and rubber seals got a bath of Armor All.

It will eventually get the hard panniers which have turn sigs in them but for now I'm using the stalks as PA frowns on not having turn signals. Next step is rewiring because the PO butchered it. Cable has been ordered. There are a couple hours of soldering in my near future.

I really like that texture, but I wonder if there is an actual black color. I have toyed with the idea of blacking out almost everything on mine except for a few pops of chrome here and there.

One of the best things about the hammer finish is you can touch it up easily and it will never be noticed.

I use it on all my vintage power tools for that reason.

Hammerite brand has a real black hammered finish that looks great.
