Hi, Do you have more details on the upgrade? like where you hooked up power to it, the mechanical fuel pump "blank up", etc....?Converting 78 GL1000 to electric fuel pump from a 1200:
very nice. I used a pump from a honda prelude ( I think ) on mine. You might look into putting a tip over fuel cutoff switch from a newer goldwing in case you lay the bike down someday. It will cut power to electric fuel pump which might come in handy.Converting 78 GL1000 to electric fuel pump from a 1200:
if you ever decide to add tip switch here is a cartoon schematic for hooking it up. I used an 85 gl 1200 tip switch.I powered the pump through a relay triggered from the switched Accessory terminal available on the 78 under the left shelter. The power (through a 10A fuse) was pulled from the regulator output feed. (see photo).
I used a sacrificial mechanical pump housing to cut. Wanted to keep the original. Had my son (an excellent welder) to close it with a plate. Smoothed it and refitted.
I never added a tipover cutout. (Probably should have).
