Y'alls advise seems to have stopped the upgrade (uninstalling the kb3035583). I'll know for sure by 8/23 if it tries again
It reinstalled on mine, I then went to update ,found it there and sent it to the hidden update section then choose the option to choose my own updates so if it comes back I will see it , if it doesn't I`ll go back to automatic update.
Let you know what happens.

Last night, I was on an emergency computer call at my Sister In Law's photography studio (where I perform her network and computer changes), and their environment is all computers are Win 7 Pro on a fairly complicated network with laptops, docking stations, multiple wifi stations (public and company separate), network printers, scanners, servers and obviously lots of different software.

Her computers were set for automatic updates from MS and someone accepted the Win 10 update/upgrade..............

I had a verrrrrrrrryyyyy long night last night fixing her system. Total crash of the entire network because of incompatible drivers, printers, scanners.......well, almost everything!!! :whip:  :fiddle:

Luckily, I had a Win 7 image for the Studio setup and corrected that computer. Reset the entire system and we were back in business by 2:30 AM. :lazy:

As far as MS is concerned, this is a huge issue for small businesses!!! The employees thought they were following proper procedure by keeping the computers updated for security reasons (per the instructions left by me of course). A simple, typical Windows Update shut her business down for more than a full day!!

My opinion (for what it is worth), MS should never have forced an upgrade notification download that will not accept "NO" for an answer!! :head bang: :cheeky:

For her sake, she was lucky I had an Image of the studio setup and all of the other data files are stored on multiple servers (locally). Rant over......... :whip: :moped:

Great save Gerry. One of the reasons that auto update is never selected on my builds.

Sadly, all of her computers are now set to not update automatically anymore. :head bang:

Z I've done the same after reboot and it's on manual update also

Windows 10 boned me this morning. I noticed my Win7 pc wasn't updating so I went to update and noticed there were about 15 updates waiting. I guess the Win10 upgrade that I hadn't installed wanted to download and was keeping the regular updates from downloading because I kept canceling the 10. I looked for the update in this thread but it wasn't there. So I decided to let the upgrade download. After I declined the upgrade, the 15 updates downloaded and installed. After the required restart I ended up with a black screen and a cursor. I can get to the task manager but most of the processes are missing. I then changed the boot configuration to go straight to my USB backup drive but that didn't work either. Looks like I'll be installing a fresh copy of win 7 this morning. Grrrrrr! :thanks: Windows a new reason to hate you.... even though I still prefer win 7.
