It does make it a lot easier to get to the top inner alternator bolt if you take the engine out.

I wonder if the higher amp alternator increases parasitic drag? Maybe that was Honda`s idea of using a 40 amp.

when my alternator died on my 1500 wing last year I replaced it with a 95a unit from db electrical, you can find them on ebay and check to see if the pricing is in your budget. don't forget to replace the rubber cushions that go between the motor and alternator. the hardest part is the alternator doesn't always align when reinstalling it but its not a hard job to do
