Actually my dipstick is still in the works...the item I got from Ebay needs some mods to actually fit my bike....I have no idea of how the original owner had it mounted...dammit, back to the drawing board.

Say I just realized that the Skunk Rally was mentioned...I went to that rally in 2008. Great fun and a great, crazy group of bikies....

That is the Markland, I bought one about 10 years ago on EBAY, but could not figure how to install the top clamp, Thought it to awkward to use so sold it again on EBAY and bought the J C Whitney one. Doug

Hi Charles, Thanks for the photos...that is the exact one I bought for sure. Can you post a photo of how you mounted it? I ended up going back to using my old JCW tube and dipstick screwing it on where the Markland one screws onto.....I also cut off the end of my tube and using a new ferrule I ran it to the side....so far no leaks and much easier to reach the dipstick top. I sure would like to see one mounted on a bike....
Thanks,
Brian

I will install it on my interstate as soon as I cahnge the oil and filter wich will be very soon and I will take pictures of the mounting ok. JUST FOR YOU Brian :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

Shoot Chas, I thought it was already on your bike and those were old pix of it on the bench...oh well, Thanks and hope it works for you....I totally don't see how it goes on..... :Awe:

OK...I'll be watching for a post on how it went for you...that is what I thought when I bought it but mine does not match up with any bolts on my bike....

In fact, I wonder if I didn't get one for a different model wing??????

Aw jeez, ....

I was poking around to see if I could figure out my Markland dipstick again and what do you know? I figured it out....sometimes I just don't quite see the bigger picture I guess.....Mine goes down BEHIND the radiator from the left side of the bike, the fitting on the drain plug piece has to point straight up and the tab on the dipstick tube fits perfectly on the top inner water pump bolt ....
It fits perfect and I am much happier than with the way I had it set up with my old JCW tube....

Now I have to drain the oil and put it on....mañana.... :Egyptian:
Brian

Well jeez, you might have said something before I actually had to put my brain in gear....

I'm HAPPY! I think it is going to work out perfectly.....now if I can figure some kind of under engine bash plate I'll be all set....

Hi Dan...not so much off-roading as just riding in Mexico. The tope's can be murder on the undercarriage of a rig as you probably know and there are plenty of times that I will head off on a bad two-track....a little protection would be great. In fact I am wondering if there is anyone who has developed a remote oil filter unit, similar to Randakk's spin-on filter adaptor? I would even be happy if I could protect the filter and water pump housing....

no problem all I have to do is take out the drain plug and screw this adapter in it has a opening to the side for the tube and on the fromt there is a bolt smaller than the adapter that unscrews to drain the oil from then on. and the ear on the tube is bolted to the water pump bolt on the top as you look at the front of the bike while standing in front

Now where thinkin with our dipsticks :ahem: :ahem: :ahem:
