Loud ticking from front. Here’s a video
Please post whatever you find! I've been searching for that same noise for a month. lol Mine only does it when your driving it though. Thought it was wheel or brake or tach/speedo related but running with rear wheel in air, jacking up the front and spinning the crap out of the wheel ... nothing I've done involks the noise in the shop! Nope, not a stone caught in the tread ...

Well…. Just now have some days off and will take a closer look. I thought it was the water pump but I could be wrong. I poured seafoam in oil , will take it for a short ride …. Drain oil then add fresh and maybe that will quiet it down. Will keep u updated

Right head off. Pistons and wall look good. I have a couple of spare heads in good shape. Will just use those.

I was checking that and the rocker according to the manual and it appears that the rocker has moved so much that the tappers have pushed back into the cylinder head … weird. I will have to get a pic

Let me get my parts names correct here. The rod that holds the tappets is out of wack thus pushing the tappets too close to the outside of the cylinder head. I have extra heads and can clearly see the difference. This is causing the slack hence the tapping sound. I will revisit the manual and adjust on my left head . The right head I had to remove anyway as I had a slight coolant leak.

I'm learning.......You have the valve rocker arm that slides through the rocker. The valve rocker arm is off ... almost seems like its worn. I will keep checking. I've read somewhere of a collet that must be re-centered to fix this. will keep checking the manual

Here you can clearly see how the rocker is pushed up against the head due to the rocker arm/ rod not being centered.
The other pic shows the adjacent rocker in the correct position. Never had this problem before.

Sorry, forgot about the 1200 valve adjusters, a different breed.

The rocker center shaft has to be free to rotate so it can adjust the valve lash. The hydro adjuster rotates it.

Things are going from bad to worse… some numbnut placed the incorrect bolt ( smaller bolt at very bottom of cylinder head) thus cracking the bolt hole on the engine block. This explains the slight leak it had. I don’t weld and I’m not sure jbweld could fix this. I have an extra engine and might have to go with that….. geeeeeeeessshhhhhhh!

Okay….. I have a donor engine already removed from a bike sitting on my shop floor. Cylinders are free but….. there is some rust inside one intake and on valve. I soaked with pb blaster and I’m hoping I can still use this engine … fingers crossed.

Just added Seafoam to my 82 GL1100 last week for the same reason and there was no change ... in the noise or from my $20! lol My clicking only happens on acceleration, not cruise speed or decel.
