Something that I may have missed, but are you still using the same spark units or does the kit come with different spark units? I seem to remember in past threads that these units melt and are hard to come by?

This is a stand alone ignition and will not use the spark units or anything else from your original Goldwing ignition system, except the sparkplug caps.

Paul, Is that the same for the 1000 unit also? Probably a dumb questions since hooch has 1000 heads :head bang:

Good information!! This is getting better all the time! :clapping:

OK, another silly question.....Joe has the unit mounted in lieu of the points on Hooch. Where does that unit go on a 1100?

Present build of 1100 ignition will fit in place of the stock ignition. Another option may be available soon. :read:

If I am looking at this right, it is just infront of the frame cross member.

And I love the comment about the carbs at the end. :smilie_happy:

Yep..same location as the stock pulse generators on the 1100....which kinda sux.....waaaaaay harder to get to! :crying: You either have to pull the rear suspension, or the engine.... :swoon:

theres of a better way to some ex tense of a non invasive mounting to timing cover ...but i think id rather have it in back ...its looking like there is no reason to go there ...adjustability is a no issue .. i can see a pigtail coming out of it for laptop users

Located at the rear of the engine where your stock ignition is located.
The coils will be mounted slightly different but still in the stock frame location.
If you have a 1000 cam set I'd personally install the GL1000 kit to save time. It is much easier to access.

okay ...ive been having big problems with hooch ...ive been holding off posting cause I was so lost at figuring it out ... and with the c5 involved I wanted to really nail it down .... well metally ive got it figured out finally whats was going on ... don't have it fixed yet but its is past time to post ... its just really taking long ....

I must say I think the c5 is great and not the problem im having as it is looking ...

ive got things going down that will be coming soon ...

im sorry its taking so long ... i just had to post now cause time was such a factor adding up

as of yet the c5 seems to be working perfectly ... hooch on the otherhand is having a time of it along with me :headscratch: :builder: :nea: :headscratch:

okay had hooch running just a short bit ...saams hooch was reving rather good ...it tack right up pass 6000 rpm rathereasy but idont have something quite right and no throttle cable hooked up ... I must be getting a vacume leak of some kind had to choke it to keep it running... but what little I ran it ...the c5 seemed great ....throttle response was quick.....like when hooch was first running ... to figure out whats leaking air and get right hose for gas hook up ... im well pleased so far

That C5 ignition sounds great, it may be just what i am looking for.

So it gets rid of the spark units, but do you still need vacuum advance module hooked up on the 1100?

Hey Dan when do you expect to have a how to Video on your 83' 1100, ready for viewing?

Joe I hope hooch will be better than ever with it's new Ignition and carb setup.
