I want to see performance on a bone stock engine.
I'll know after I get mine installed because I know exactly what my 81 engine can do and how it runs.

But...but..your '83 is not totally stock, is it? Don't you have some different cams and junk? :cheeky:
:smilie_happy:
I really like the positive review on this system...seems like it will be the cat's meow for oldwings, stock, or otherwise. I'm a little concerned about setting it up, tho...will you absolutely have to use a laptop to program this thing, or will they work ok right out of the box? I unnerstand fine tuning to get the most out of the complete engine/iggy system, but....that might be a little over my haid. If it will work fine as a plug &play, my interest will go up tremendously.
I have 1200 cams in it but that's about all.
I'm going to try it with these cams but switch back to stock later.

Dan - any idea when the 1100 version will be in your hands?
I hope in the next week.
I think it's coil mounts Paul is working on now.

"I want to see performance on a bone stock engine." -Dan

We have installed quite a few Wing ignitions since last October. All were stock. I've got dyno results and testimonials from some of the customers but i don't post them. Why not? This is not my forum and i don't think it's appropriate to post that stuff on this site. Besides, would you buy any parts because some rider you don't even know tells you to? No, we listen to those people we respect.

You guys are kind enough to talk about the system, and i really appreciate that. Unlike other forums i believe this one is the best because we openly share ideas, even if we don't all agree sometimes.

We really pushed the envelope on Hooch with the timing, and i believe Gary from PowerArc is going to expand on the good and bad points of doing what we did, so i will not discuss that right now. I'll toss on some photos of the ignition to show you how simple it is. The module itself can be installed and timed in under 5 minutes. The coil and wire connections take the longest time if you want it done right (and you do!)

Here are the main parts of kit. There is a module, which mounts in our aluminum housing. The encoder wheel and spacers are inserted and are responsible for the timing and control. The coil is not shown but mounts in the stock location.
Not much to look at but is simple to install and really easy to set timing on. Just ask Joe...super simple.

well went for small ride this morning it ran like a monster in the most advance curve paul basicly dialed in ....next for hooch is the 75 carbs ive been holding off on till things were right ....this will give me a slight larger jet at the top end and a little more breathing too ...with the scallop slides the 75 has over all other yr carb racks .....i try the most retarted curve yesterday and it didnt really like it that well ....so the curve thing is no joke at all it makes differences .....amazing how bad ass it is throttle response is instant with .....it will run 500rpm idle rather easy ....fastest goldwing ive ever been on thats for sure

Hopefully today I'll have the video's uploaded and posted in this thread.
 :read: :laptop: :ahem:

I watched aboot 1/2 of the C5 presentation on programming the iggy.....VERY impressive. I'll need to watch it a few more times to really unnerstand all of it, but I think these guys know what the heck they're doin, and from the good review from Joe, and the rest of the crew there, is sure sounds like it's a winner!! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Not in the thread but the video is in his Youtube Channel.

well i just back from a morning cruise ......forget about the fact that hooch is a fast bike ....the most impressive thing about the c5 is consistancy ..it blows me away that it pulls all the hills around here in 5th gear and below 2000 rpm ...it dose not even make groan of any kind till about 1000 rpm .....amazing how smooth it is and this is with 1000 carbs the jerkiest for sure of all carb racks for oldwings ....i did some highway time too ...quite a bit ...with the throttle lock on ...wow ...this is cruise control ...the bike has so much torque it dose not drop off at all hardly and throttle changes are not in play ...smoothest throttle lock ride in my life ....vibration was non existent ...this is simply the best bike i ever sat on and rode ...it has it all ...smoothness and no trauma of a goldwing ...power in all situations .....torque from 0mph and more power up top than ones needs or want to push it ....i dont know words to say how fantastic i think this bike is and its c5 iggy ..theres no debate in me about how good the c5 is ...even for stock bikes .....the video of hooch running in the new thread is the c5 set in the most retarted possition ...witch i later droped from the program as it did not run very well there ....

very interesting to hear how well it pulls, without drama, from low rpm's. My bike (stock except for CBR coils) will NOT do that without much protesting.

:clapping: I'm guessing this is, in fact, a serious improvement in old wings! :clapping:

Something that I may have missed, but are you still using the same spark units or does the kit come with different spark units? I seem to remember in past threads that these units melt and are hard to come by?
