Just wondering, I was once a member of another forum where members could document mods and log bike maintenance.

It was cataloged my member name and was an excellent tool for at a glance type maintenance records.

What say ye, fellow members and of course Dan????????

How would it be formatted on the forum?

Ok, now you're speaking greek to me. Just an idea that I thought was useful. I don't know how to implement it.

How was it accessed on the other forum?

It was a regular forum section like:
General
Off topic
For sale
Technical issues
Maintenance Log

Then you would host a topic say: TJ's 2000 Black 1500

That would be the topic then you would return and add maintenance info, parts used, mileage, date, etc.

Sounds interesting.
So it's like you list in your own topic what maintenance you did.
I can see how that could work. You then check back in your topic when you last did maintenance, or you could make the next post what is due next and when.
Hmm.
I'm open to ideas.

Interesting. Might be worth a try. Was this used to assist in trouble shooting problems posted in other threads?

I don't think so.
Seems like it would be like a personalized thread strictly for keeping track what's been done and what needs to be done and when?

I'm liking this idea.

I can set up sub forums for each member that wants a log in such a way that it's read only for other members. This way the topic starter can keep his logs only his logs.

I made a new forum category called "My Maintenance Logs" https://classicgoldwings.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=117

In it so far I made a forum called "Terry", and "test" (for my test user). These and any future member forums will be alphabetical.

Each one of these accounts can create new maintenance log topics and replies in their own topic only, all others can read only.
I can make new personal maintenance log forums like this on request.

Terry, try it out and let me know what you think so far.

I have been using an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of my maintenance. I just add the latest date and current mileage in the yellow highlighted cells and it calculates exactly what maintenance is due. Attached is a PDF example:

I hope this works. I have a Maintenance file on my computer but I never go to it.
This would be very helpful.

Have the writer state what make, year and model of bike it is.

Good idea but one of the ideas here having the logs on the forum, it's accessible from anywhere you have internet access to update or refer to as well other members can refer to it.

Looks good what you added Terry.
I renamed the section to "My Bike Logs" and set the member sub sections to be displayed under that main category on the forum list pages. This makes your own section a bit easier to click through to.

I also moved My Bike Logs up into the Repair and Modifications forum.

Thank you for the maintenance log. I think it will come in handy and maybe create some addition dialog on here.
It was early so what I entered was to mostly just give you an idea.
I think most other's will come to like this new forum feature.

I like the idea of a maintenance log, just wondering if it could be removed from recent post since it is not really a topic that requires a response , new topics can get mixed up with personal organization.
