Okay so done a bit more polishing today not a lot, just heard from my new family over there, that my nephew Jerome had a little girl she will be 4 months old Saturday has chronic liver failure, I think she was premature, and has been fighting for her life since birth and now it seams she has lost the energy to fight any more. So I have had to do something other than think about that all day so got to polishing takes my mind off it so to speak, So some pics of the Rear Brake calliper and my supplementary instruments that go across the false tank.

And the new clocks as a test in the old clock housing

Oh my that looks great! So sad to know a baby is so sick. They should be full of play and wonder at such age.

Hi V thanks the baby has cirrhosis of the liver. A transplant is out of the question as I assume she is too small. Her dad my nephew is a drill sergeant in the Airborne regiment, I understand that her mom is also in the Army but as yet I don't know what she does. The whole family have either been in the Army or associated with it work for it? as yet still finding out about the family. What I don't get is that cirrhosis of the liver is associated with "drinking" I have never heard of this happing to a baby and to be fair and honest neither of the parents are drinkers, what we would call a social drinker the odd one or two beers or glasses of wine. So why has this poor kid got it.

This is why I am not a believer, they all say "it's god's will", well in that case he is a murderer if he knew this was going to happen that in law is first degree. Anyway getting off topic. Just ordered new tyres for the bike, having Michelin Pilot Activ for the front and back $217 for the pair. Over here that is a good price. I was going to get Avon's, back in the day they were good tyres, but read some bad reviews in that in cold conditions the walls of the tyres crack quite badly one complaint was even down to the canvas. :moped:

That's the one, I think in fact just checked and it is the reason, too much iron. Surly wouldn't or couldn't they just do a transfusion, or is the liver so badly scared that there is no chance of recovery. I understood that the liver is the ONE organ that can regenerate itself from almost nothing. Either way confronted by yet another life gone in my family. And one I will that I will never know. I feel so low right now. So going to go over to the lock up and see what I can do there.

Thanks guys. I think I will be fitting the gauges tonight into the new pod I have, My only thought is the electricity feed. Normally they need the 7 volt thing, but as these are from VDO they are 12Volt dials. So my problem is in the revcounter, I bought the type with the built in water temp gauge, is this 12 or 7 volt? Any suggestions as electricity and me don't mix none to well. :head bang:

It should have its own 7 volt regulator but I can't be sure without a wiring diagram.

Most analogue gauges use a reduced voltage power supply it is just a matter of if it is included for the single gauge. On instrument clusters it is common to share one regulated power supply ( voltage reducer) amongst the different gauges ( fuel, temp, oil pressure etc). Individual gauges like the VDO ones all have their own voltage reducers.

So I have a new to me used part see the photo bellow, that I was going to use on the GL. So as you can see from the back there is a 7V regulator fitted in circuit.

This box has "ACC TERMINAL" on it?

On the rear of the new clocks I have 3 spade terminals arranged around a central threaded pin (no nut) and of course above those spades a light fitting.

So with effect I will need to connect those to a 12v source, as they would under normal conditions be fitted to a car, so I am thinking for the temp gauge in the Revolution counter the 7V relay would have to be used. Now to make matter even more problematic (maybe) I have the 7 Volt resistor replacement I bought from the club last year. So if you are confused just think how I feel right now. :beg: :read:

I need to see a wiring diagram for your Tacho with gauge to figure out if it has its own resistor/regulator built in.

It is a standard Honda Tacho. fitted with a standard water temp gauge inside the Tacho. see picture below. Further there are two sets of wires that emerge from the Tacho, first set are solid brown and solid green, these correspond to the two wires emerging from the speedo and are the wires for lighting. The second set of wires emerging from the Tacho are solid green and a green with a solid black tracer.

First one shows the Tacho with the water temp in bottom half of the Tacho.

The second shows the wiring the emerges from the Tacho.

Below is a wiring diagram for the GL1000 General type

:thanks: :thanks:

Okay mystery solved those are off the 75 wing and yes they need the 7volt reg. I just double checked my 75.
