Our progress always seems to be hampered by such things as living expenses, & lack of free time. :head bang: So why would we think ill of one in the same situation as ourselves? Misery loves company :smilie_happy:

See now you have it one, it is an eternal triangle, work (takes up too much time) Bills (I need to work to make enough to pay the bills), result not enough time to complete more important projects. And now we get back to time (retired) now I have lots of time but not enough money to complete the project in a reasonable time as all my pension goes on bills.

Aw crap I hate life. :heat: :rtfm:

:good: :smilie_happy: Practically everything I do takes a lot longer than it did 20 years ago.Must be wifeys fault. That was bout the time she entered my life. Funning! She's the only person on the planet who can put up with me full time. :whistling:

Be Brave V, just you put her in her place, don't take any crap from her just tell her who is boss, just don't let her hear it. :yahoo: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

So I have just bought this on Flea bay for a Poor Boy alternator set up. £70.00 nice show chrome one too. Now I need to get going ....

So this afternoon, go into the garage and took some stuff off the engine. Water pump casing, Clutch casing, Fuel pump. I have taken off the cover and released the clutch but need to remove the central nut (tomorrow). Cleaned them of grease and crud 98% and started to paint strip them with aircraft stripper, that stuff is lethal, the moment you touch the brush on the paint it starts to come off and crinkles like you would sucking limes.

My garage mechanic that I use for my car has lent me his engine stand, so got some steel and going to make a cradle for this engine, then I can do it all on the stand. It will make my life easier.
So right now I am only going to go as far as the heads off. I will then have a conference call and decide what to do, go further or what.
Good night guy's I am off to bed as it is 23:00 here.
:lazy:

66 been disabled since Nov of 2011, & sick long before that. Two blown disc's in lower back, & 2 or 3 in my neck. Three surgeries later not working, been on morphine for over 10 years for pain before that.I feel your pain :smilie_happy:

You pain is greater than mine, I don't use sweet sister morphine yet, if it comes to that then I will be converting it to a trike. :beg:

I think for me the problem is not bowing down to it. Cancer survivor, lots of problems because of the radiation treatments but nothing that I can't live with, just everything take so much more time, the neck is the biggest problem, when I turn my head I can hear the bones grind over each other.

You know your getting old when you exchange ailments :smilie_happy:

Hi boys and girls, and now we move forwards yet another small step. Day before yesterday I was in the lock-up, and removed some bits for cleaning and removing the paint. So I took off the water pump housing, the bottom water feed pipe, fuel pump and the clutch cover plate. My aircraft paint stripper came yesterday so straight down to it. That stuff is soo caustic, 1 tiny drop on my latex covered hand and it starts to burn straight away.

I used it to take off the paint on the items I took off and the top part of the steering head. Then moment you put the stuff on it gets more wrinkles than and old mummy. So I took the bits to the blaster, but he wont do the fuel pump and he told me don't use a vapour blaster either but the rest was fine, come back next week to collect.

As my SS nuts, bolts and Cap head screws arrived today it was time to do the forks. 20 minutes, the only thing is the top caps that screw into the fork tubes are also getting cleaned so no oil yet just temporary inserts.

Also the alternator arrived that I bought yesterday for the poor boy conversion. So feast your eyes.

Now, I bought a regulator (new one) but I am wondering if I will need it as the Alternator is a three wire so I think it is internally regulated? Any thoughts and or ideas welcome.

Oh and another thing I have looked on here and else where is there any way to test the water temp switch that is the one with the two prongs sticking out. :ahem:

I'm pretty sure the alternator wires are 1 to battery as charge, 1 is a voltage sense, 1 is for an idiot light.
Temp switch can be tested in boiling water. We have a video by Mcgovern here. I think it's in the visual tutorials forum.

Suspend internal end in boiling water and read resistance between the prongs. Ohms. Resistance should change as it heats up and cools down.

Thanks for that guy's. I have rebuilt the forks just waiting for the cleaned up top slugs, then I can add the ATF or should I use proper fork fluid? I now have another problem, the fuel pump. So I split the pump and have found the diaphragm is perished, not that that makes any difference as you can't buy another diaphragm. Only I didn't read that bit first, so it is a whole new fuel pump, unless of course you guys who are the mothers of invention can tell me otherwise.

I don't see it as a big problem. As I am using the $) IDE carbs, that means I need an electric pump I fear. So on the face of things it could be just a small problem. I will buy another pump and with a bit of luck they can be had new.

Anyway for your eyes.. forks....... waiting for the bubble wrap to protect them.
