Gl 1000 fender might look nice on it.

A 1000 fender changes the look significantly.

The only problem I have, depending which tire I have on, it rubs at highway speeds.

oooooo yeah I like that. That's probably better than what I'd thought I could do with the original.

For the record what you see here isn't finished. The valve covers still need paint, the engine guards and bags are all going back on. I plan to put the lower fairings on but I admit it does look good without them.

I think the air in the rear shocks was too low and that caused more scraping than normal. I'll make sure it's up to spec next time and see what difference it makes.

They are never finished. Once you think it is, you'll find something else to do to it.

:good:
I believe it. I've had 2 years to create a list in my head. It will probably take another year to get that done. During that year I'll be dreaming up more stuff.......

Ok, got over a hundred miles now and with the air suspension filled correctly I'm able to think less and ride more. I'm handling corners smoothly. I did still scrape a peg today but that means I'm getting my confidence up and cornering harder. Learning her limits. Beginning to feel where things need to be adjusted. The clutch isn't engaging until the lever is nearly fully out, I'd like that a bit further in. The rear brake pedal is much too high. Stuff like that.

I still think it's weird to be throwing a big honkin' highway bike like this around the twisty back roads I ride but I get the feeling that if I can do that kind of riding with this beast I can do it with anything.

As for the stumble when cranking the throttle open, I've learned two things. First, just don't. Feel the engine and give it all the gas it can take, twist as it keeps up. I get a nice smooth but pretty hard push in the pants that way. It wouldn't go any faster if I could crank it and hold it wide open anyway. Second, it's not really a problem at higher rpm. Up around 6000 it doesn't care.

Cool and rainy here tomorrow but perfect riding weather Sunday. I think I can get a lot done on it tomorrow and then get the first long ride Sunday. I have to get a bag on there someplace, I'll need a tool kit. Maybe I can get the panniers back on tomorrow. And I have GOT to paint those chrome valve covers, they are driving me crazy.
