Please pardon my selfishness by starting my membership by asking a question. First let me tell my story and then ask my question.
I have a 1980 GL1100 Interstate. Approximately three years ago the starter clutch finally went completely out. the water pump was also starting to fail.
Previously, I had done all my own mechanic work but health issues prevented me from fixing the bike myself. Lucky for me (so I thought), my nieces husband was a power sports mechanic. So he picked up the bike and money for parts and took it to work on it. You can probably see where this is going. They moved out of state leaving my bike in someone else's garage.
He told me he had everything fixed but hadn't finished putting it back together. I have no idea if this is true. I finally gave up hope that he would finish what he started and tracked the bike down and brought it home. The bike is sitting on my trailer still partially disassembled.
I still am not able to do the work myself. I think I have all the parts but I can't find anyone that is willing to tackle putting it back together. Even if I did it would probably cost more than it is worth especially considering that the fresh paint job was ruined while it was lost.
What should I do with it? I live in Texarkana Arkansas. I would sell it for salvage but we don't have a motorcycle salvage yard. I could try to sell it to someone for a project but I have no idea what it is worth or where to advertise it. I am not able to part it out myself but need it gone. I would rather see someone take it as a project than sell it as scrap.
Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks in advance
Marc
