Hi O-man,
I have Firefox which updates itself automatically as far as I know...at least that is what it tells me....
Brian

I used to use Firefox but it got buggy for me. Try your IE, I know a lot of people hate on MS but overall I've found IE is the most stable.

~O~

I would think Firefox would have updated fonts but maybe the problem is a lack of the font in XP.
Still that doesn't explain why Jerry's showed the stars then not.

Try I.E., at least that will tell us if it's a browser or operating system problem.
The new version I.E 9 seems pretty darn good.

Let us know if it looks right. If not we'll try something else.

The forum software requires there be a rank title, that's what the stars are, basically a progression in rank from 1 to 10 stars.
If we don't use the stars then we either have to name the ranks which is redundant because each rank already has a name, or we have to use some other standard character. Alternately is remove that line all together.

Ah HA!!! Here at the shop, using Winders XP/IE, and my alter(ed) ego log-in, I SEE the boxes with no stars!!
Using Firefox, it is fine.
Must be an issue with XP and IE, depending on what version of IE is being used....I guess.

btw..afaik, I have IE7 on this puter...don't know if I have updated it to IE 8 yet or not, 'cause I never use IE....

Hmmmm, I did log in with my IE browser and it is the same....little boxes under the profile photos...no change...so I must not be that...I don't feel like firing up my Netbook with Ubuntu on it right now but if I get frisky I will...that will tell something....

102 degrees out right now...I am hunkered in the house with the A/C on....

I don't know about you guys, but as long as it doesn't affect how my sled runs, I'm good...
I'll pretend they are stars....
Brian

That's cool Brian but I hate when something doesn't work right and besides, it give us a mystery to solve either by

:laptop:

or by :builder:

then as a last resort :head bang:

And if that don't work we can bring out the BIG GUNS

486 lol, those were the days :smilie_happy:

I started with a 286 that wouldn't run Windows, couldn't even install it.

Man things have changed for computers.
Sure nice not having to find the floppy with the disk drivers when reloading. Just throw in the disk and install runs with no talk back.

I also started on a 286...but it did have DOS-Shell and it could run Win 3.0. Ahh...Lotus 123, WYSIWYG......

Funny thing is...as computers get more powerful....the memory required to just turn it on keeps going up expotentially and you never seem to find that happy medium of real fast computer that boots fast, shuts down fast and runs bug free!

I am on my laptop from work that has a Centrino Duo processor....blah...blah...blah and it doesn't run any faster than my 10 year old (home built) Pentium 4 - 2.8 with 1 MB ram??

LULZ, the wifes PC is an old watercooled unit I built; P4 2.4HT overclocked to 3.1, 6800GT watercooled/overclocked, twin HDDs watercooled, 4gigs 800 ram. It's a dog compared to my old AMD Phenom 9850 quadcore 2.5 with ATI HD 4870 graphics card.

Pardon...geeked out there for a sec.

~O~

Well we kinda shot this topic to hell so I'll continue on with it.

How about a system comparison?

Mine is a Dell XPS 430 Intel Quad core 2.5 GHZ
6 Gigs DDR 3
ATI Radeon 3600 512 MB RAM
500 Gig 10k RPM Velociraptor HDD
Less and less "extra" storage as the drives die.

My next purchase is at least one 1 TB external drives for backup.

I think ~O~ has a killer gaming system.
I'm curious what's in it
