pulled the heads off tonight. The left side came off easy, the right side came off a little harder. The pistons have a lot of oil in the jugs both sides the valve's are pitted just two of them both sides one valve per side. the outside of the engine show alot of blow by out of the tube going to the breather. A high millage engine for sure. Also the head bolts are Not smooth down the shafts of them the have gear type groves never seen this before my other engine the head bolts are smooth. also one side head gasket is split. No sign of water in the block thus far.. goin to try to split the case tomorrow. Ii think I will use my heads and crank & bearings. Just do a swap over. Do you think I would be best to use my pistons out of the original engine or re-ring the ones that are in it? will check the ring clearance if I can get them off. Other wise all looks ok . I hope its an odd ball so the bearings are the ones that are easy to get that would be cool.. working hard long hrs heading to bed . Wiill keep ya posted.. Oh it has the original belts on the front. I have new ones for them// :laptop:

Those head bolts are like the ones I've seen in every Wing engine I've ever torn down.
Good to know . Cause mine are smooth. This is a first for me.

That was a change for the '79 model year and they are totally interchangeable according to this bulletin.

Hello all,

I picked up another engine off ebay Thursday for the low price of 250.00 There was 7 people watching it, I jumped right on it. :music: This engine has 33k on it an it is a p/u only. A real runner super clean. This gives me time to work on the other 2 engines. I figure I'd build the original one with OEM parts carburetors an take the other one and make it a hopped up engine. I now have enough parts to keep the bike going for a long time now. I Hope to have it in the bike real soon. My job has a lot of my attention, so working on anything @ home is very hard to do. I hope everyone is having a great time with there own GoldWings.

I'm doing my best. I got back home around 1:30 this afternoon. 6 1/2 hr drive across the state and back. Engine looks good it has the aftermarket oil dip stick on it. One more round of money and I should have it back on the road. Dam these bikes are costly. I think this will be the last I'll need to dump in it. I'm going to build up the two other engines 1 with stock the last 1 will have the single 32/32 on it. Hope all is well on your end, just working a lot here..

I have received almost everything I ordered from the vendors today. :clapping: . I'm waiting on a gas tank from NY. I made the mistake of creaming mine sometime back. Overtime there's been fragments falling into the gas tank that has ended up in the bowls then into the idle jets. These old tanks are troublesome to say the least. I also picked up a used air breather box from a earlier model Wing it was a gift. Finally, I was promoted @ work.. Heading to bed.

:salute: :laptop: :good:

Make sure that you use good quality in line fuel filters, fragments should not be making it into your carbies. Some have suggested using a filter between the tank and pump as well as pump to carbies
