The picture of the rod bearing from this post is for a GL 1000 rod bearing and it does have the oil hole.

...its obvious to me 2 and 4 have out of round wear marks ...there been trauma here here ... it looks to be without a lot of mileage on it but trauma all the same ....hmmm suppose to have oil holes here......
You are right Joe!! There should be oil holes in #2 and #4!

Is it possible this case has been split in the past and someone else already installed bearings? It is possible Honda did not install the correct bearings, but very unlikely.

BTW, this one is on Ebay right now...

I would try all your good bearings with plastiguage and see if they are serviceable ( even some of the not so good)

hmmmmm i think the whole process of checking with plastiguage needs to be explained ...
Plastigauge is placed between the bearing surface and the piece. Tighten the bolts and the plastigauge squishes out and dries. Disassemble and measure the thickness of the plasitgauge which then tells you the clearance and whether the bearings are still servicable.

(Anyone, please step in and correct me if I am wrong. I have not done this procedure yet.)

Great video! I should get some plastigauge to measure up the '81's bearing clearances, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't come in 1/4" increments! :smilie_happy:

I looked up on the tips for ensuring the surface is true. So I think it is good to go now. I also looked into the lapping video. For now I just did the scotch bright bad deal. This is what I'm left with . Have a look..
