Bought a new battery... I think I'm going to quit bragging about AGM batteries for a while, something I've been doing a lot lately. :?

~O~
Yeah I know what you mean. I had one die on me too. Knock on wood this Odyssey battery is holding up well for me.

Decided to walk away from the brakes and tackle another big job: paint the front wheel and fork.

Good thing about going over any old bike from front wheel to tail light is you find things. Important things. I'm  that now I have to buy a new tire and mess up the fresh paint putting it on but :beg: that I discovered it now and not the Hard Way. If only I'd noticed it before I did the paint job. :cheeky:

So, what do y'all recommend for a front tire?

Learned that Harley's aren't the only bike that thing vibrate off of.

My tail light lense fell off as I was riding down a bumpy road.... I stopped at an auto parts store and a guy was there putting parts back on his Harley that had vibrated off as he was riding down the smooth road. :smilie_happy:

Michelin Commander II's, are on ALL of my bike's, can't say enough good thing's about them. :good:

Reassembled the front end. New Shinko 230, rebuilt and painted calipers, painted wheel, painted fork, cleaned and repacked speedo drive. All done except the fender which needs to be repainted. I only need master cylinder rebuild to be rideable and maybe headlight and front turn sigs to be legal. Maybe.

The PO had the front tire on backwards. When I took the front wheel to the shop to get the new tire mounted, I explicitly told them "The old tire is on wrong. The speedometer drive is on the left." I head the boss repeat it to the shop guy. Picked it up later, brought it home, set it between the forks, and guess what?

Must of been one of those days at the tire shop. My rear Shinko 890 ended up backwards as well.

With mine it was because they thought the shaft drive was on the left and I assumed that they thought the speedo drive was on the right on a gl1100

Finally put the rear wheel back on Val in the carport Friday night so that I could ride with my mate Pete on Saturday morning. It took me hours as I had to clean up the marks on my wheel from the new tire being fitted twice ( initially it was backwards) and I followed Rich's (RedEye) instructions to the T on making sure I didn't damage the new final drive seals. I added the final drive oil on Saturday morning and washed/degreased the mess I had made. I then had to fit new brushes and bearings to a customer's alternator before heading to Beaudesert to meet up with Pete and his girlfriend Kat for our ride.

I put the trailer on a diet. I lost 9 inch in width and 17 inches in length. I redid the deck, now to decide what I'm going to do about a cargo box.
:good:

Mounted backward? That tire has arrow pointing in the correct direction, What am I missing?

Sorry to confuse, that pic is after I took it back and had it fixed.

What did I do today? I gave up on it. It backfired again and this time the pvc manifold did not survive it. I don't know why it's backfiring. This is new, it didn't do it before. This time I took precautions to evaporate and clear all fuel in the manifold before starting it. I can't get the brakes to work. I'm disgusted and I can't even look at it anymore. It looks like a year without a bike. Dammit.
