image.php

one mor e pic showing shims ....the starter is moving slow enven under no load when tested outside the motor with battery ....ready for incoming comments on what to do :fishin: :headscratch: :help: :crying:

hmmmm the business end .....okay it was to late to do that yesterday ...im kinda burnt on the little stuff getting away from me ...but in refreshed today and will dive in ....sheesh

Yeah clean out all that oil real good and it'll probably spin like new. Impressive that it spins at all really.

Need to figure out how that oil got in. The center shaft on the gear reduction like mentioned would seem the only way.
I don't think that rebuild kit you have coming includes that bearing but maybe the one it does include is the same?

My next question would be, why so much oil at the starter to get in in the first place.
Is this a common problem on 1200's?
I haven't read of it.

It's good the kit is coming, the brushes are probably saturated in oil.

thanks mike this just what I needed ...surgery is fixing to start :builder:

rebuild kit are you kidding :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: what that :smilie_happy:

:builder:  :good:

I wonder if the oil could have gotten in there from being tipped the wrong way?? I remember one of mine being like that, I think it was the 1200 too. Maybe from horsing it around by yourself?

after cleaning with alcohol....seems the brusches are used up bigtlme might be reason it slowed to too along with oil ...positive side is bottom out period on the spring ...im going to take apart other start and see if brushes are good and switch and then repack gears and try

All I could see was a brush plate with too ugly blobs attached. Polish up the com with some fine emery and try for new brushes if you can wait :good:

well tony there is no chance of brusches on the other starter that's where the trouble was with that starter it eat the positive busch brokr the tower and really had think making noise .......

success boys after all day cleaning I finally thought to try 1100 starter brushes and we have STARTER TO PUT IN ....all I have to do is pack the gears....wanted to see it work first ...install in the early morning tomorrow
