Number 2 and 3 warm exhaust to touch. 1 and 4 hot hot to touch. Check and its the same as my other post loosing volts at fuse box.
If i pop out all fuses execpt for ignition i have same volts or close to same as battery.

Have you checked/ changed plug wires? If it ran strong on the single carb it most likely is a carb issue.

There brand new wires and plug boots.
That is what has me. Runs great with single.
The last time i rode it for about 10 miles and then it bog down on me and it took over hour to get it running and then run fine again. Now that was with single carburetor.
I have never heard it running with honda carbs because was not running when i brought it.

When I cleaned my 80 carb rack. I noticed I could not push a wire through any of the jets. So using drywall screws I pulled them and cleaned the holes inside. Leaving the drywall screw in place and using it to tap the jets back into place. It ran fine afterward. If any of the jets has been drilled through that may be the real problem.

Maybe double check the plug wires are going to the proper location, someone here got the wires mixed up and if memory serves it was acting similar

Ok guy's save 2 81's becuase Im ready to dump them.

Brought plugs today. Pulled all plugs out left them out. Plug in new plug to #4 which had spark.
Ground plug to block turn key on and had spark for about 15 seconds and thats it.
NO SPARK ON ANY PLUG WIRE. YES KILL SWITCH ON.
I tried cranking with plug grounded on block and switch the kill switch back and fore no spark.
I have pulled all fuse execpt ignition and on go.
I have 13.2 at battery 13.0 at bl/w wire going to coils at the plug. Pulled b/w wire at coils have 13.0v.
I have wigged wires while cranking motor and nothing. Even turn and wigged key switch nothing.
What am I missing here.

If I check the wires at the pulse generator what wires do I check and how do I go about it.
Also does the the regulator/rectifier have anything to do with spark.

Pulse generator how do I go about testing that?

First thing I'd check would be the ignition wire plug on the battery box. To be sure all the connectors are clean and tight. I suspect they are not.

is the reg/rec installed and hooked up? Have you had the ignition apart? Is there any other electrical work that has been done recently?

Seems to me either the kill switch doesn't work in the run position or there is a fuse loose or blown. It's unlikely both sides of the ignition have failed. So maybe the power to the ignition is interrupted somewhere.

So looking at electrical drawing the bk/w wire runs from the kill switch to the spark units then to coils.
The black wire feeds the bk/w wire right at the kill switch.
So could I cut bk/w wire any were's between kill switch and before the spark units and just use a jumper wire from 12 volt source just to see if there is spark then.

Allen, before cutting anything, be sure the green ground wire is attached that is on top of the coils. It connects to the frame bolt at the coil pack. I had the same thing happen to me after cleaning not realizing I forgot to hook it back in.

I'm looking at a drawing of 80-81 and then 82-.
ignition system.
80-81 shows only one spark unit.
and the 82- shows 2 spark units and a resistor.

I have a 81 and it as the 2 spark units and no resistor.
would that cause a problem.

the info is wrong i think 1980-81 have 2 spark units ...gee your into the hondas worse trait its wiring and ignition set ups ...good luck...im sort of there too but my bikes runs ..why ..i completely took honda out of the ignition picture on my bike ...LOL
