I keep having a leaky float. Three tries and you're out. Gotta get oem. This could easily be my problem all along with the backfiring at cruise or the sputtering on acceleration. If I go back to using them im throwing all my previous attempts out the window. I would get it to seal for a while, but come morning I had a puddle of gas and one or two cylinders full. Gotta check my oil now too. I have the 1200 carbs in the trunk. Hope to get them on tomorrow.

well im seem to be having the reverse problem and im fixing to hook up to gravity temp tank to see if ican can keep the floats full ....if you no the offending carb go after it ...I had one on the 1200 rack float out and Qtip it clean seat and float....and it quit leaking ...never did anything but took the bowl off to get at it ... but if floats stuck cause pin wont come out then I can be a bigger deal ...

I think mine is just garbage aftermarket cheapness. Tour Max.....absolute junk. I have cleaned and replaced with new float and seat. I'm trying the 1200's so I can ride for the little time we have left.

I have wondered about that. I still have my pump. Just spent all day putting 1200 carbs on. BUST!!!! I finally got it synced and got rid of of the hunting for idle issues by plugging the vacuum tube to #4 carb. The carbs looked good except for the idle screw for #4. It was eaten away with corrosion. Didn't have another so, why not??? I got back from the first run, pretty good take off but sputtering at above 3k. Pull back not the garage to start on the car and I felt something in my shoe. I take it out and it's a small spring. Hmmmm looks a lot like a spring from the idle screws. Did I screw up? Moi? I go to check if I forgot the spring. Get to carb #4 and it is empty, no screw, no spring, no washer. So, I'm screwed, errrr not screwed. I think I have another one 110 miles from here. I think I liked the 1000 carbs better, but it isn't fair to compare until I get a set in there that is set up correctly. I might try swapping my #2 carb from my 77 set tomorrow, the one that doesn't leak.

yep it seems the 1200 carbs loos mustard quick ....just now fixing to go out and finish 1200 fuel pump install and make block plate for 1000 fuel pump ..and test it with 77 carbs and 125 main jets

ahh back to the world of complete sanity ..... now that ive worked hard to figure out hooch with the c5 deal to get the bottom of things and personally confirm the c5 is rock solid and it was have huge carb problems with the huge mod the 1200 motor brought to the table .... and the trike guy assassinated the trike project and off the table ...

v and I decided that now I have time to work with 77 carbs on the dresser build ...and make it work ... so that's what im doing now ... so kicking around some ways to go about it ... and pics coming soon .....I have never been so happy to get back to this heavily abused basket case of a bike thank you jesus .... pics coming soon

:smilie_happy: Once you get all the way down to just the frame and running gear, they all look alike and you get to make em what you want out of them. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I'm already thinking brat bike on my next build.  :smilie_happy:

well these pics are deceiving cause the flash was used ...im trying to figure out how to get light in here on the dresser build as winter is coming ...I just had to laugh at how dark it is and what a mess ive got going on anyway no choice but to rig something and get to work ... ive got an full winter time project list to do ..

:headscratch: :hihihi:

Shelves would be nice too.

A quick and dirty way to get light in there would be to use porcelain or plastic lamp holders like these tied together with a hot and neutral wire strung end to end between one of the wood posts at each end.
Use 12 gauge wire minimum and a rope across to support them.

We usually use these for temp wiring but they cost quite a bit more.

Since using the cheaper plastic lamp holder method is not technically "approved", unplug the entire string when your not in there.

wow yes well its down to something easy now ...natural light clear pannles was always first choice of things to do but was completely out of the picture in cost ...still hoping for someday as it was set up to have it ....hmm the temp wiring thing is good and a small string made and deflectors to keep having the lights blind you by looking at then seems to be all I can do probably right now ...

mowing the yard this morning put my butt in bed for a recoup nap ...im up now seems to have rained pretty hard while napping .....

wow took me forever to find this thread ..seems tom found it lately ....the thread got a little off topic on doghouse lighting that has been taken care of now ...but was originally about the two 1200 bikes i went and picked up for V ....the standard up and going and a fine example of the rare 1200 standard ... the other is a 84 dresser ... this thread some pages back show this motor was in bad shape .... witch made it a perfect fictom for hoochnstein transformation ... it was bringing it back from the dead LOL.....the project got sideline when came clear that the stock honda carb set up were just not good enough to handle the hooched out 1200 motors i was making ... and attention turned to hooch to figure a new fuel system ...power by weber progressive 2-barrel carb... this process went on and on till i finally figured out there was huge air shortage low in rpm zone that just create problem on top of problem that could not be mastered in stock weber set up ... long story short hooch the testing bike as it became is running like no other wing now ... and the weber carb has gone through the joedrum caveman mod process ...ill use apple description ...its just killer ..going sport bike hunting ..hooch is like dynamite on two wheels ...

anyway now after all this time the just dresser is named the junk yard dog ...JYD and it time to put some controlled dynamite diet on top of JYD ... it took a while to figure it all out but it done deal now and time for jyd to get it dose of weber and also see if i can but this pile of parts back together :headscratch: :thanks:

This thread has pretty much always been about the Junkyard Dog. The Refugee just got new tires and a trunk and is in service.
