:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: What a piece of good fortune;stumbled onto this thread today, after i just purchased said rare 84 standard, off internet from track & trail in Pa.Go there & look at used bikes, asking $999 took less. If its as nice as it appears in photo's, should have a good point to start to make nice ride. Will keep eye on what is done,to all the others. Have been wondering about single carb, set up for some time. At this asking price, stater is fried or they would ask more is my guess, cant sell a bike that wont charge the battery. Salesman says well, you never know, about stater & charging system.Well yes you do,at 67 thousand miles it is almost certain to need replaced, even if wires were soldered. Water pump is gona probally leak, fork seals leak, all kinds of things to fix.But what a scooter when your done, had my other 84 standard since 1998,took me better part of 10 years to find.Had 4 thousand miles on it,looked like new. Now it has 74 thousand plus, runs like a scalded dog to quote a buddy's dad when i was young, long ago. Have 2 dressers,87 &91 can work on one still have one to ride. After this one is done, can do same with standards, always hated having it down for any reason, cause you can't cool off on a scooter with fairing, like a standard.Been looking for another since 98,but they are hard to find.Hope this one is as nice as pictures say,but too late now, paid & arranged shipping so we will see.

This thread has pretty much always been about the Junkyard Dog. The Refugee just got new tires and a trunk and is in service.
Yep, my mistake.....reading and posting in the wrong thread again!

(Thought I was in the Hooch thread...)

Well those pictures show a bike that you just stole for less than the asking price!!!

Yea that's what i thought, strapped as i am for cash, could not believe my good fortune.
By the time they go through & make things right they still have a 30 year old bike that was never really popular, still not pristine, hence dump the trade & move on.
Some times you fall into something other than sh--.
Nice on those rare occasions, hope this is one of those, time will tell.
Looks to be complete, with stock mirrors, & all small, impossible to find, bit's & pieces, including horn button.

It was a good mistake imo.
This thread is already 15 pages deep!
Too hard to follow being about 2 bikes.
I'd like to see them separate threads.

Thread is 11 months old so far with 86 posts of a non technical nature. Threads naturally get long with member interest over time.
