Here's the plan: Will do carbs next and then see what happens. If that doesn't fix it, this engine is outa here

Guessing the issue is fuel, from the looks of things :headscratch: , still only a guess. :whistling:

Actually, that engine sounds pretty darn good otherwise!

Do a simple test with the carbs off the bike. Fill a lawn mower tank with gas and feed it to the carbs from above. Tilt the carbs 45 degrees to the left and see if gas leaks. Could be as easy as a stuck float or dirty float valve and seat.

Will do.

Just pull the rack and rebuild it....Anything else will leave questions on the table IMO. Its not very difficult and Im sure with your attention to detail you will be successful.

I think there are 2 things going on here.

The bit of smoke or fuel rich mist seen in the video may be a carb problem over rich but I highly doubt that same bit will create smoke out the exhaust.
That I think is something burning out of the exhaust pipe/muffler since you say it gets worse as it gets hotter. That is exactly what oil in the pipe will do. I've had trans fluid take a good 45 minutes with a hot exhaust to burn out and clean, who knows what might be in it on a new to you bike.
I still say run the crap out of it for awhile, watching the coolant and oil levels, checking for leaks etc.

So the mist coming from 2 exhaust won't hurt the head gasket. I plan on doing the carbs anyway but can run it some more to see what happens if it won't hurt the bike

Like I said before that left exhaust tip looks wet. Is that must an illusion?

It was foggy that day, left exhaust has never been wet like that , therefor have to go with the weather on that one.

Great News :rocks: No more steam/smoke. Started bike up after work , looked and looked and no steam/smoke. Took it down the road, nothing. Man , I am pumped :Egyptian: Upon bringing her back, let her idle for a while and no issues. I am so relieved. Very interesting how its running great !
Will post a video later.

Keep ATF in the fuel from now on. That should keep it running nice.

Will do, forgot about that. Whew, glad this is over but, the forks are shot and I've done quite a few fork rebuilds , so must get them done. I still can't believe she's running nicely now. Few issues with getting her in neutral at standstill but I still need to just get the feel. Thanks guys again for everyone's help

Here's a quick video. notice temp is good and, no steam !!

Turn down the idle to 1000 - 950rpm. That will make finding neutral much easier. In the vid I noticed idle was about 1500 rpm.

Okay, still must adjust. So many other things have been neglected, so will tinker around. Oh, I forgot to mention, this bike is fast as heck !!!
