Keep ATF in the fuel from now on. That should keep it running nice.

I know i asked you this before, how much ATF again?

I just put a splash in at each fill up. I sometimes get too much and it smokes a bit so I just skip the ATF next fill. That said about 4-6 oz if you care to measure it in.

That's great,
I can tell you when you wake one up after a long coma the more you ride them the better they run.

Oh yes the 80 - 81 bikes were geared low and take off like a rocket. Very fast acceleration for as big as they are.

Great news!!

Acceleration seems a bit lazy as does coming back to idle but I'm sure you'll get the carbs dialed in now.

Great work so far and good on ya for sticking with it!

Thanks. More questions I'm sure to come later on other things but this too me is huge. Interesting how no more smoke/steam Maybe this is nothing but I had never ran the bike without the left muffler off and then when I hooked it back up, no more steam, mmmm................

Great News :rocks: No more steam/smoke. Started bike up after work , looked and looked and no steam/smoke. Took it down the road, nothing. Man , I am pumped :Egyptian: Upon bringing her back, let her idle for a while and no issues. I am so relieved. Very interesting how its running great !
Will post a video later.

That is odd.
Did it take awhile for smoke to stop after bolting exhaust back on or was it like right away?

Right away, no smoke at all after hooking up muffler.

Then it likely was fuel causing the smoke. Dropping the pipes would allow the fuel to evaporate faster. Especially heated as it was being close to the head while running. :laptop:

Hmm, I'll buy that when the pipe was dropped but that shouldn't apply after it was bolted back on. I'm glad it's gone but I question when a problem mysteriously dissapears.

I'm going to clean up the bike now. Still need to sync carbs. Can I spray brake cleaner on carbs just to clean it up. This is with it still on the bike.

Took her out again today. Seems she is stammering when releasing clutch, similar to when you aren't going fast enough and are in a higher gear and the bike hesitates. Might just be me but I don't recall this happening with my 1200. Could it be that since carbs aren't synced yet , its causing delay of sorts? The stammering is pretty loud and does not sound normal. Once she's off, sounds good.

1100's are known for that. Rev it a bit more and feather the clutch. You get used to it and how to all but eliminate it.
