You do not need a cell phone provider to make the wifi work...

Wait....whuuut? :headscratch: :headscratch:
So I could grab the newish Blackberry I have at home, and connect to the innernet without a data plan??? :headscratch:

Blackberry is a whole different animal! But otherwise, yes! You can access the internet through either your data plan, or via the wifi connection. The wifi is independent of the data plan. You can turn off the cell service (data) and still access wifi. (If you are in range of a wifi connection).

Another alternative is using an older iPod Touch. They also have wifi and internet access with no requirement for cell phone or data plan except the Touch does not have a camera.

That is very true but and there is always a BUT, you can only access free wifi with an open internet wi fi connection, if the connection is secured you will need the password for that connection. A lot of places here in the UK have free WiFi connection, Mac D's, some Starbucks and a lot of café's or truck stops have it. Quite often Government Facilities open to the public also have fee access. :laptop:

I talked to Joe this morning, he is doing very well.

He finally has a working speedo. Latest MPG is 40.

He discovered where he's staying and helping out, they have wifi so now he's scouring the area for swap meets, garage sales etc for a cheap laptop or something.
He misses being on the forum and I miss him also so hopefully he'll be back on real soon.

ya,i was wondering myself..hope eveverything is good on his end..call me 618-315-4882 ...joe.road trip times are here.. :music: :moped: :salute:

He called here as well. Hooch is serving him quite well. It seems this trip has done him good too. He may be getting a little better than 40 mpg since he is running the smaller 1200 front wheel and tire. The speedometer seems pretty close though.

the speedometer is different SG, i used a 1200 front end and wheel but had to use my 1100 speedo drive unit and my speedo is 6 mph fast when checking it with a gps. when i am going 75 , it shows 81 so Joe is doing a little better!

I was just talking to a friend a couple days ago about Joe and his trip , I am glad to hear he is ok . this will be one of them stories Joe can think about , and talk about when he is an Old Man......... like ME ! :smilie_happy: Enjoy every minute Joe . these are the times we all dream about my friend. :laptop:

I too am glad to hear Joe's absence is purely for pleasure and that he's having a blast doing it.

I remember cruising the length of the Natchez Trace Parkway last year, (Mississippi's best kept secret,) at times all I could hear was the burbling of the exhaust from behind and the gremlin bell ringing, splendid isolation!

Keep on trucking Joe. Hooch won't let you down 'cos it was built right.

Joe stopped today on his way from Ga. down Orlando way. He's doing well and hooch is running good no problem's. He stayed awhile and fueled up ( had lunch) we had a nice bull@##$ session. Headed to his mom's left around 6 00 he should be there in about 2 3 hours. Said he'd give me a call when in Jerry.
