ive already got a gasifier that take wood chips and turns it into a cleaner than natural gas gas that will run a motor on ....i also have a 20,000kw generator that i savenged to produce electric power ....that the oldwing motor will run ....so in times of power failure i can get eltric power from wood chips ...like a chipper can make ....thats the plan been doing it for some time now just moving slow like all my projects ....but i like the motor stand a lot ...thought you guys would like to see it

hmmmmm the pic i tooh dosent show that the exhast is hooked up .....there 1000 header pipes there it could actualy run in the stand and will when i find a car radiator to mount on the stand ......

the stand would be fixed in place if i was going to try and run a motor on it .....the motor will soon be fixed to the generator ......but i will try and run it there first ...

the stand will just be a place to try engines out and get them up to par before install in a bike ....i might try to put the 1200 motor in there to test it before installing it in the mongrel ....

the stand makes it easy to to work on carbs or what ever as its easy to get things off and back on.....theres still quite a bit of work to do to it as to electric and radiator hook ups and such so a motor can be tested

Looks good. Like to see people fending for themselves. Keep us posted with how it works. I hope we don't have to resort to that for our own power, but who really knows the way things are going???

well ekvh on a smaller scale ...i guess i went about q month all total this yr ....it was hard to deal with ...where i live theres only a couple more places that get power passed me ...so we are the last to get help under power failures ....but your right who knows where things are going ....how are your projects going ....great hearing from you ...i will be trying your plasket fix soon on some of my bikes ....things have been moving slow for me tho on things best day to ya

I've been busy moving to a new house, so the bike fixing has been diminished. One of my abs repairs blew up on me. I used a thick slurry of acetone and abs instead of bondo to build up an area that needed it. I though it was okay, but when we got our first heat wave, it developed a "tumor" where I had used the thicker stuff. It bulged out about an inch by three inches. I am guessing there was some acetone that never cured fully in between and the heat made it gasify. I used a plane to shave it off and it now is a big crater. I was afraid I was going to have to get chemo for it.

just got back at 1:00 am ...it was a smooth ride amd no chas i didnt get the bike it was 110 miles away from the motor and rea;ydidnt make sence for this trip at 40miles per gallon on the way there ....it didnt do that after the motor was in the trunk ....and V the motor went right in the trunk ....that little car has a good trunk as in size ......glad to be home

okay after a long break the mongrel 86 1200 motor is in the motor stand ....thanks to V who gave me head gaskits to use on it ...i was having a hard time buying gaskits without feeling i was being rape by TSA airport goons....anyway plan is to use 1100 heads on the 1200 motor as i have have a known good pair thats on the 82 motor that was tree slamed by the tornado of a yr ago or so ....then there will be 75 cams and and ignition hooked to it ...along with 75 carb rack ....

first i will check for sure sbout clearence with the valves and pistons with the aggressive 75 cams and there lift ....there been all kinds of talk about clashing ...the only time i check i didnt realy see any problem ...but i will do a thuraly good check first ...if cut outs have to be done i will ...its certainly not a mod stopper ...im expecting a huge gain in horse power ....and when matched with the 1100 final drive already moded to the mongrel frame it sould be geared awesome ....this set up sould be like a valkery 1200 and actualy have bigger carbs and more aggressive cams than the 6 cylinder valkery...oh i so much like playing in the unknown areas of oldwings ...the joedrum prototype mongrel :rocks:

okay today is the day i think im going to mount a 1100 head with early cam in it with old head gaskit and leave other side bear and realy get down and figure out if ive clearence for the valves and how much ...this is a once and for all test to see if i need to make cutouts in pistons for early cams ...im thinking i dont hopefuly ....if it passes the test then it will time to start putting the heads on and time it on the motor stand ....ill take some pics this is a long time in happening but its here today to do

im going out today too take some pics and get some work done on this mod .... my buddy eric is on his now and appears that there will be some piston top cutting to get this to work with early cams ...im going to check this today a im taking the camera .....

This is the piston when I just cut the sandpaper flush with the valve edge, no overlapping.

This is the final of the piston after wrapping the valve. No contact when rotating

This is a shot of the valve with double faced tape and stuck to sandpaper. The first attempt I cut the paper flush with the valve. It still made contact with the paper like this.

This is the crude wrap that I used.

Valve closed, no real noticeable marks

Open valve shows where it did contact the piston while I slowly rotated it around to TDC. It looks like the efforts are to be focused on the upper ridge of the recess for the intake. I was barely moving the wrench on the crank, and it stopped it dead.

It's weird that the 1000 cutouts have to be a bit wider than the 1200 cutouts, but I guess it's because the valves were that much smaller, the angles of the valves were different, and Honda felt it got the squish area centralized better. I'm pretty sure mine clear easily now, but I will check how much.....one of these days. I travel every weekend, so I only get stuff done at the end of my work day Monday thru Thursdays.
