Dang, Joe...sounds like what you really need is a well equipped machine shop. Then you would have no problem fabricating anything you need to get this beast working....

Hope it all works out, tho...this is an interesting project.
Toothpaste, bubble gum and duct tape and Joe can make a rocket! :smilie_happy: :yahoo:

you just forgot one thing gerry .....4" grinder ....thats what im doing right now its taking some serious grinder control ...im going after the hardest part first ....when i get it machine down then i will still have to mount it to something ....that may be where the bubble gum epoxy might come into play .....this is tough to do for sure .....  :headscratch: :builder: :help:  :whip:

well my hand held surface grinder job is done and its good considering idid it withe cam installed and backside was tough ....not hitting the ignition stem or the cam seal ....lets just say luck was on my side .....now i have to mount it perfectly centered with the cam .....plus there is no room for a plate now and nothing to seal it too from the grinding for the advancer so im going to have two hole threaded rectangles that can be tighten in place on the head and then the ignition housing threaded too ....the ignition housing will have to be releaved or cut too accomedate the rectangles fasteners....sounds hard and is .....but if i can get that done it done except for water proofing the the everything ......im happy i made no mistakes with the little mean 10,000 rpm grinder.....

i know dan pics :Doh2: its raining here agin today so iwill do something on 1200 today ....its seems like the plan changes everythime i look at it ....this is starting to go from ceazy smart to cazy stupid quickly ...im realy going to have to dig in and fight to get this done....so out to the doghouse i go   :builder:

i did manage to put the ignition houseing in place and wish it would stay in place but it woulnt do it .....its sad that im down to this kind of engineering :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: its rainy and gloomy out and just not a day for much else ....im realy not desperate but i am out of stuff to work with at the farm ......i need to get some screws or treaded set skrews to work with and if that comes about then i have to come to grips with the ignition houseing mod that will have to be done that i didnt want to do ....and just do it .....this is to big a deal for me to stop now .....this has got to be one of the few mods like this ever done or maybe the first .....antway im good

happy to report that i got a 84a 1200 carb rack today surprisingly for nothing ...i hate to sound like a kid in a candu store but i had a hunch that 1200 carbs might be all the answers to the earlier carbs on oldwings .....and in looks like it could be im impressed with all the stuff on them .....i have no ideal of the outcome but im glad i went this way to see ....... :Egyptian: :Egyptian: :Egyptian: :rocks: :good: :yahoo:

I don't want to be greedy but for that price I'll take 3. :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:
I'm happy for ya Joe. This is looking like a fine project. :salute:

well today is the day i finaly got the courage to go for the adapter plate machining with just hands as the only tools of accuratecy ...there was just no room for mistakes at all its so tight i wasnt looking forward to it at all....im happy to report it went well so far and the first phase of getting the plate to mount to the 1200 head is done and its good ...i was lucky to get it all to line up and get clearence for the ignition to spin free :heat: :heat: now to get that far on the fuel pump side....again as ive said before this is a mod not to follow as it is extremly hard to do just no room or play of anykind .....but the ignition was a big step on this for me ...im having to just will this done and everything has to go my way ..... :heat:

fuel pump plate done on the 1200 head now too ....this is starting to be getting through the biggest obsticals now ....im still not out of the woods yet and have to get tap and stuff but i would think the rest is going to be a little easier :heat:

PICS!!!!!

i know dan i was hoping to have a solution to the pics thing ...this sucks not getting any pics ....it went so well for me today ...im just so strecht on funds right now theres no way ....im having to buy a tap and barrow stuff to get where im at ...im doing all i can do right now scambleling for metal for the buildind spring chores and motorcycle projects and on and on :help:  :hihihi: :ahem: :fiddle: :laptop:

Joe's a bit busy now chopping up downed trees to do much on the bike. I'm sure once the power returns there he'll be back with further updates.

yes slabghost is right ...power back on and the first thing i did was receess the screws to so they would be flush with the plate that wnt well ....the fuel pump will go right in and reaches the cam so it can operate ....on the ignition side the bolt holes in the 1200 head wont allow me to use the lip on the ignition to fit inside the the plate so it has to be removed and the ignition ...this means it will have to rely on the bolts being the only alinement ....im thinking of some kind of outside the houseing alinement ....but the only thingi can think of is epoxzy of some kind...this wont be easy to do without it sticking to the ignition houseing and also howmuch heat can this stuff take it dosent sound to promising to me ...but i will keep thinking abou it ...if thewould have been just 3/8" more apart ot would have been perfect but its not im sure it will work the way it is but you are relying on the bolts alone with no back up ...it just needs to be better than this ....i have no choice but to do it and come up with something to to cover this flaw maybe an alinement pin or something ...i wont leave it just on the bolts ...to much moving parts for that ...no peace of mind every time riding for me ...it will come to me on what to do a little further down the road of the mod im sure

im happy to annouce that the camera that dan sent as a gift has arrived.....so now all ive gotto do is figure it out ...im going to mess wth it some and take some pictures with it ...i need everybody to pull for me :whistling: :hihihi:
