I have a situation .................

One of my wife's uncles by marriage past away about a year ago and his widow still has all of his "stuff". He was a retired engineer and would collect everything imaginable. I just spoke with her and was curious if he had any old motorcycles around? BTW. he has a huge warehouse of things. She thinks he has three and that got my attention very quickly. She lives out in the country and her daughter and son-in -law moved down from Wisconsin upon her husbands passing since she can barely get around. I guess the son in law has already gone through his "stuff" and separated the "junk" from things that are considered usable .
Anyway, I am going to make a trip down there this week (1hr 1/2 drive) to take a look at these bikes. They could be nothing or maybe a rare find ! I will definitely take pics either way and let you know what i find. This could be a very interesting situation since the widow knows nothing of bikes and maybe the son-in -law does, so we will see.
I'm doing all this since i am off from work for the summer and I am still waiting on my custom seat which seems like will never get here.

Chow for now !

Take pics and start a new thread to follow!
Will do.

Thanks again everyone for all the nice compliments. I'm about 7 days out from it being 2 months since I ordered my seat cover and foam from Taiwan. In the meantime I have found a few things to work on "The Wanderer" and those would include relocating the license tag, rebuilding right front brake caliper again , since it starting leaking from first rebuild. Turned out i had to order a new piston (not cheap). I will start to rebuild the rear master cylinder, as I can't get good pressure even after installing braided lines.
Then its off on my little quest into the farmland of Oklahoma, hoping to find some cool older bikes. Speaking of cool older bikes, check out this video:

spoke with son in law and there is only one bike which is a basket case yamaha 350 did not know the year. Oh well. at least i didnt drive all the way over there to find that out.

My thoughts exactly. Those little two strokes are a blast to ride and sell pretty well. Worth checking out.

I'd buy an RD350 in a heartbeat, (A New York minute,) When I was a kid, about 17 ish, I raced one down on Addington Bottom in South London, it was a big deal to us back then. Like the illegal street racing they still do now.

I was on my BSA Firebird Scrambler, and I won, but. It was a close run thing!!!

My first bike was a YDS6 250, so I actually knew what I was up against and that I had more power than he did, or at least, I thought I did. I got lucky in that race. :moped:

Still waiting on seat . will be 2 months in 3 days. wow!!

Quick question. I have rebuilt many brake calipers on many goldwings and this bike is giving a bit of trouble. I rebuilt the front caliper with not only a new seal kit but also a new piston and it is still leaking. Could it be my new master cylinder which is not stock, i believe its 16mm.

I also rebuilt the rear caliper, with new seal and cleaned up piston and now its leaking too. Only change to the back is i replaced the rubber line to stainless and i also rebuilt the rear master cylinder. Very disheartening since i put all this time and money into something i've never had issues with on my other caliper rebuilds.

Interesting note i just thought of. After the rebuild they worked okay, no leaks that is but still spongy ( i know, trapped air somewhere) The to try and fix the sponginess, i zip tied the brake handle overnight and placed a sledgehammer gently on the brake pedal too. next morning they were both leaking. Did i blow out the seals?

Hmmmmm .....you always have to figure the replacement parts may be below par....also the housing could be to scard up and damage the seals...you did have continuous pressure all night long so yes I'd say that did it

I'd agree continuos pressure could do it. May be okay under "normal" use.
When I get done fighting with brakes, I test them for leaks by applying them as hard as I can for 10-15 seconds simulating what might happen in a panic stop. If no leaks then I check every fitting before each ride until I feel comfortable nothing leaks then call it good.

did you hone the calipers? Maybe the seals simply haven't seated. Try compressing the caliper pistons to force the air if any up the lines and then pump them back up a few times. Might just seal up and remove that spongy feel.
