Rode the GL around town looking for lock ping pliers, couldn't find any so I bent the tips flat on a cheap HF set and drilled dimples on the ends and worked long enough to get my VW`s output shaft flange clip off/on. I really need to find a good pair of them for the future.
Then went to the dollar store and found a fully loaded wallet laying on the ground in the parking lot, went to the other end of the lot to see who it belonged to then went cruising through the lot , found a guy digging through his car, asked his name...It matched and got a Bro hug.
All in all a good day.

fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

put the wing back together got it off the lift took it for a ride . then explained to the wife why I need to spend some $$$$$$$ to fix the next issues I found after I had it back together. one is pricey the other isn't just time consuming. somehow while it was on the lift my fairing brackets shifted so have to pull the fairing and realign the brackets and figure out how they shifted and stop that from happening again.. found a quarter size hole in the bottom rear of the right exhaust. at least I know why my right exhaust felt weaker than the left.

Tracked down some more title evidence for the 86a. Spoke to the widow that sold this bike to the previous owner and she is trying to find some documents that may prove previous registration in New South Wales. I have already done an import approval search but prior to 1991 they do not have any electronic records. Nice lady so I will keep her appraised if I make any positive progress with the 86a.

Wow, it's the Rat's Nest all over again! I'm sure you'll have similar results, and a nice, new tag hanging off the rear fender!

Polished one fork (ran out of time for the other), ground down the new welds on the frame, primed the repaired section of the frame, cleaned out the threads on all of the bolt holes on the frame prepping to put the engine back in, polished the exhaust (gotta love steel wool!), polished the new headlight, turn signal brackets and turn signals (gotta love steel wool!), fixed some wires, assessed what work remains to be done! :builder:

Sounds like you got everything - x2 I hope! (also, there are 2 Ring, Piston - 51437-KAZ-003 per fork...) Are you going to rebuild the TRAC units while you have the forks apart?

Ordered four shims for the 1800 valves. Wouldn't you know that none of the ones that are out or at spec would swap in to make another in spec? Anyway, Partzilla lists Wednesday a ship date, so I guess I'll be caging it for a while.

Go to Lowes of Home Depot and buy a piece of 1 1/2" x 2' PVC... it makes a GREAT slide hammer for getting everything seating correctly.

Cleaned a few rain storms off of the chrome and aluminum. It looks good, but it sure was easier before I polished that aluminum!!! :head bang:
Have you waxed the polished aluminium? The Flitz kit came with a spray on wax specific for rain and grime for polished aluminium.

Nope. Just hit it with some Mother's and a mini ball and it worked great!

Before polishing the aluminum, I think I washed/waxed the bike once in three years. Now that everything shines, it's going to take more than that. :heat:
