Rode Val with Aussiegold up Tambourine Mountain to visit Gary that owns three GL1000s. :clapping:
 
Buttoned up the heads after replacing gaskets. Went down to Napa to buy timing belts only to find they were $29 apiece! Came back home and ordered two of them off Amazon for $31. They will be here Monday.

So then I spent a couple of hours farting around with my single pull throttle cable. I omitted the push cable after reverting back from the Webers. Had way too much slack and I could not adjust it out. I ended up fashioning a spacer down at the bottom end. Even though it’s a Kluge, it’s an effective Kluge and I’m going to roll with it.

I was hoping to get the wing out for a ride today but we had family here from NY. and NJ. I only had enough time to get these lights mounted on the ST 1100, didn't have time to wire them up. I want to light up the front of the ST 1100 like I did the Mighty ST 1300

When I was done, my wife asked me which one is the antique: me or the bike... that :sensored:!

No more annual registration, no more annual inspections...

It sucks to finally get the bike running only for it to get cold outside. We went from August to November overnight.

I'm assuming the "electric gear socket" is a plug that you connect your heated clothing to?

Boy, was I confused for a few minutes trying to visualize what kind of socket you were talking about!!

Got this miserable dog of a broken valve cover bolt out of the head on the '78. It was broken off below the deck, so I was prepared to drill and easy-out it. But, the pilot drill moved the stub, so I painstakingly decided to coax it out with a hammer and punch until I had enough to slot and back the rest of the way out.

Got kinda lucky, I guess. Except I need a bolt now.

We've been in a cold spell here in western Pa..I haven't commuted on the bike all week. I thought I might ride it tomorrow morning as it will be a bit warmer in the afternoon so I thought I'd go out to the garage and fire it up. Did my usual ritual..couple of twists of the grip, full choke and hit the button, then immediately start taking off the choke. It fired right up, as usual, then started sounding/running rough. It got worse then stalled. I fired it up again and it wasn't running very good at all..then it died and NOTHING! OK...fuel or spark? I grabbed a couple of used plugs and pulled the left side boot and plugged them in...good spark. OK, fuel? did my fuel pump just crap-out on me? Then I looked at the odometer....155 point something. When I was out on the bike Saturday I meant to gas up before I came home but forgot (station is only a mile away). Thing is, I wasn't on reserve when I got home. I turned the petcock to reserve, cranked it and just when you would expect it fired up and sounded perfect. It ran out of gas just as I was starting it!
 
We rode from home North of Knoxville down 321 to GSMNP, over to Cherokee, up BRP to 19 and the back to Cherokee for a late lunch and then doubled back home. Love riding with the wife on our GL1800.

Thanks Jack. I appreciate the offer. As it turns out, a buddy here in town had a "can" of them, too!
