Finished repairing the beater car today.

New fuel/vapor lines, new exhaust, new lugs on one wheel. Really uncomfortable with how close GM put the fuel lines to the exhaust. There's an inch gap at one section. It was covered in a heat shield, which I taped up with foil tape, but still it seems like a flawed design, since the vapor line rusted out underneath the heat shielding. I rattle canned the new lines as well, in an attempt to reduce rusting. Also I committed heresy and anti-seized the lugs on one wheel. GM really needs to test their vehicles where the roads are heavily salted during a long winter.

Anyways, no longer have to drive the old truck, so I'm happy. I missed power steering.

Tomorrow, if I'm feeling up to it, I'll replace the water pump in the Oldwing.

went to visit my friend aaron today. he was on a trip to atlanta a few weeks ago and five miles from the hotel he hit some gravel and went down breaking his collar bone in four places
 Man, I am sorry to hear that!

Yes gravel sucks ...so does pea gravel spread on cold tar redo of paved roads ...I went over a rather steep cliff one time from it ...once to far in either there’s no recovery no matter how much skill you have ...get well

I broke my foot back in july and had not even started any of my bikes. at todays doctors visit he said I could ditch the boot so once back home I did. went out a few hours later and fired up the Mighty ST 1300 and the GSA, I rode each one up and down the block to see how it would feel. well I can say that i'm not ready to be back on either one :(

Ouch! Nothing makes me stick the the seat more than coming over a hill and suddenly finding myself on a road that has been freshly chip sealed. If you don't know what that it, it's a poor mans version of blacktop: spray some tar, spread some 1/8" gravel over it and let normal traffic roll over it to make a new road surface. Pennsylvania has become an expert at doing it.

thats some really nasty stuff to have to ride on. my friend is doing ok except he can't seem to stay off his bike, he also said he has double vision in one eye

Still waiting for headers to arrive. I know that at least on of my forks has to be rebuilt on the '79 (dinged tube), so decided to pull one of the junker forks apart, clean and rebuild. The lower leg had been painted black (over the clear), but a soak in acetone took care of that. Then polishing and cleaning all the parts and pulling the seal. Where the ^%$*7# did the seal puller I made go? 3 hour search came up empty, so went to the auto parts store and bought a regular one. Still had to torvh it up to almost 500 F to get it to let go. All cleaned up, ready to go back together and the 37mm seals I have are 12.5mm instead of 14.5mm. Shazbot! Went ahead and put one in as I may end up pulling it all apart and putting this tube in the project bike's leg. In addition, someone had put air upper plugs in these and the broke off the fittings. Tried to drill and ezout but the fitting just spins in the cap. Ended up threading in a bolt, I'll replace it with a set screw and ball bearing to seal it if I need to use it.

I put my camping stuff away after a great weekend of camping with motocampers group at Loleta recreation area in nw Pa. Sorry to see the camping season draw to a close. Good news is that means building season is coming so I can take another stab at the best camp trailer for me!

I wish I could have gone! The motorcampers group was one of the reasons I added the Tag a long trailer and all of my new camping equipment. Sadly, I only got to use the new tent on one trip before my disc's herniated in my low back.

I also wanted to plan more trips with Brian, but same thing, can't ride more than 60-80 total miles in one day.

I'm sorry to learn that, you would have had a good time on this outing.

I rode the ‘78 to Payson this morning. Got back around 2 PM. Warm here in the valley, but beautiful - 75 and partly cloudy in the hills. The ole girl’s running pretty good after her summer semi-hibernation, but seems to need a little attention on the rear brake. Also, the leak on my clutch cover that I created with the attempted Hydro conversion is still there. Maybe I should just complete the job this time. I have 90% of the bits...

Bottom line, it was good to get a ride in. Have had the Valkyrie up on the rim a few times this summer for some camping. But the GL has been waiting patiently.

Drove up the north shore of Lake Superior today so I could show y'all the beautiful scenic pictures of the big lake on one side and the rocky cliffs on the other. Plenty of rocky rivers and waterfalls as well.

Too bad today was foggy and chilly - in the 50s. My wife dang near froze on her Ninja.

Here's two pictures from yesterday though. Jay Cooke State Park. Stayed at a camper cabin. Would recommend.

Yeah, that's a nice park, and extremely pretty country to ride in. I've been by on family trip up along the Superior, and a jaunt inland to Ely, but not on a two-wheeler (my wife will NOT ride anything other than her bicycle... and only 25 miles on it... with me, or anyone... sigh)... I had a job assignment over in Ashland, Wi (east 45 mile or so) fall oh... four years ago... extremely pretty... one of my reasons for the trailer project.

I'm in Reading, PA today... installing a scale system in Leesport... and hideously motorcycle-less, but if all goes as planned, I'll be back home, and behind bars... :smilie_happy: by Friday.

not so good news from Aaron today, his tail bone is broken :(
once home from henry's I relaxed for a couple hours then went out and fired up the Mighty ST 1300 and the GSA, rode them both up and down the block, got them warmed up real good. still not ready to even ride over and get pic's of the murals I've spotted, the GSA has too much vibration and the Mighty ST 1300's ride is too firm
