Put the Wing up on the lift to work in the water pump.
Given a reminder as why you don't ride onto the lift! :head bang:

Dang. Any serious damage?

Finished repairing the beater car today.

New fuel/vapor lines, new exhaust, new lugs on one wheel. Really uncomfortable with how close GM put the fuel lines to the exhaust. There's an inch gap at one section. It was covered in a heat shield, which I taped up with foil tape, but still it seems like a flawed design, since the vapor line rusted out underneath the heat shielding. I rattle canned the new lines as well, in an attempt to reduce rusting. Also I committed heresy and anti-seized the lugs on one wheel. GM really needs to test their vehicles where the roads are heavily salted during a long winter.

Anyways, no longer have to drive the old truck, so I'm happy. I missed power steering.

Tomorrow, if I'm feeling up to it, I'll replace the water pump in the Oldwing.
I always use neverseize on my wheel studs (nickel anti seize) :good:

I modified my lift so that I can “ride on” both directions so that I can clamp the front or rear wheel depending on which end of the bike I am working on. I almost had a mishap by riding off the centre stand with the side stand down, luckily it worked out. I have also learnt to wind down the locking legs so the lift can’t slide.

saganaga: broke the windshield and put some more scratches in the paint.
Ansimp; Nice mod but their is still no place to put your foot down when the bike starts to tip.
joedrum; my hip is a little sore and my pride in broken!

That's why I put foot boards on both sides of my trailer and ramp. Seen too many Youtube dump videos.

So, this morning I took the Hunley for a shake-down ride over Norris Dam. She ran great, and #2 plug looks great! Then I pulled out the '79, hooked up fuel, and fired it up. Although only static timed and carbs not balanced, she sounded great! Still needs fork and front brake work, but looking forward to having that one for a neked hot weather daily driver.

can't ride them anywhere so I gave them a bath

Rode Val last night after doing an oil change and removing the windscreen. Had a few beverages and when I was leaving the local RSL applied a bit too much power on the gravel driveway and almost tank slapped at low speed. Had to shove the left bar forward hard to avoid going down and hitting the side fence and ended up pulling the muscle/tendons in my left arm. Feeling a bit sore and sorry for myself today but luckily no marks on Val just my pride.

Some how my daughter was also questioning me also about the beverages!! :smilie_happy:
Still trying to keep my arm down to rest the muscle but short of strapping my arm down I still manage to aggravate it. Hopefully it will be better for Monday and work. :whistling:

hope your arm gets better real soon

I slept soo rough Thursday night / Friday morning, my foot was soo sore I ended up back at medical. they really didn't do much other than give me a compression sock. later Friday the compression sock made my foot swell, I was truly run down and after leaving JW's I went home and fell asleep. I remember talking to Peewee ( my sister ) and later peeling that compression sock off. this morning it was as if nothing ever happened so I went for my first short ride and got murals at Maplewood and grandriver and heavy equiptment on 7 mile east of beech, not bad for my first ride in over two months

Drove with the inlaws today to Dennis Kirk for some tires for my father-in-law's GL1500. We'll be swapping out his tires on Monday. I'll try to remember to get pictures of the tires on the motorcycle - they are rather square, except where they bulge. Also showed my father-in-law what a modular helmet was - he was unaware of them, as well as being unaware of helmets with internal drop down sun visor.

Also ordered some new ear plugs - been using the 3M foam plugs, going to try EarPeace.

And I have to go to bed early since my wife's selling her Yamaha VX250 tomorrow morning. Going to have a bit more garage space until she replaces it with what is probably going to be a Kawasaki Vulcan. Now, if I could bear to part with the CM400, we'd have a decent amount of garage space.

Great to hear that you were able to get out and about William and that your foot is finally healing. I am hoping to give Val another go later in the week once the arm is more normal. :beg:

Glad your foot is getting rideable before weather sets in! Cheers!
thanks!! hoping the foot is good enough to get in a couple longer rides before it gets too cold for an up north trip and a trip back to Canada
