the motor in my safari van gave up the ghost earlier this year so it got scrapped and the nighthawk 450 got crushed by my neighbors tree when it fell so i only have a few parts left of it
OH NO! Do you want to sell me what's left of the 450 Nighthawk? Send me some pics!
I still have my 92 Astro (225K miles), & a spare motor.

I learned about Lester wheels today. Of course you have to remove the rear axle to get the brake caliper out...but I also had to remove the rear disc to get the caliper off the wheel. (A '77 Gl1000) well, being that far in, I took off the rear fender parts which made addressing the clutch adjustment issues much easier. Good news is I was able to remove the whole rear brake system without having to undo a fluid fitting until I could employ a vise and heat. The results made the process acceptable!

yesterday i went and picked up the replacement for my van

I welded up the hole, sanded down the rust spots, and painted the swingarm on the 77. Mind you I was just going to clean the brakes but ended up pulling the gas tank to prep the rear half of the frame for rust repair and paint.of course that begged a thourough clean and flush on the gas tank...the dominoes keep falling..,

Great day in bike shop.. 1200 swing arm primered and motor getting taped off.

Looking very nice!

When you are finished with the painting would recommend a good protectant for the swing arm and FD, and any other part that you have painted. Used CERAKOTE MC5100 on the parts I painted and are in areas that are hard to clean. Been a year now and the parts are easy to clean with a damp rag, and these parts come up shiny now as when I painted them. Can be sprayed on or brushed - one coat does all, dries over night. Used it on all the aluminum finishes, rims, and painted surfaces including the underside of the fenders and a lot more. Don't get it in an area that you don't want it. One issue with using this product is that once on nothing sticks to it. If you were to repaint a part, need to sand, repaint then reapply the protectant. Wear a mask however you apply this product, nasty stuff. Just a thought.

Great looking job!

Finally got paint in the mail today.

Started the Spyder and 1200 Gold Wing, let warm up to operating temp. Have both on battery tenders now.

Changed up my car from a 2011 KIA Soul - standard with AC/cruise/heated seats, to a 2014 Hyundai Tucson Limited Edition. Had a low speed thump in the rear. Replaced the rear sway bar stabilzers and all is well.

Only issue with the 2014 Tucson is it has all the bells and whistles, similar to my '85 Limited Edition Gold Wing; however, no heated steering wheel. Honda put everything into the '85 Limited Edition, but no reverse. Still a nice upgrade. Looking into the newer models of Tucson and Santa Fe with the 1.6T and 2.0T engines. Hyundai has a Tucson hybrid - 1.6T and electric, that is getting good reviews.

Supposed to get snow tonight. Have snow tires will travel.

Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to all!
