its alive .....and moving on its own ...77 1000 with 1200 motor and now final drive instelled

a bit lower now...... lot easier to get around on this hill....will test it soon ....

pic i s all

other than the added weight of the parts that were switched as in wheels tires and swing arm the 1000 framed bike and vetter is same weight added weight can be much ....

got a small ride in ... to get some gas ... going for longer ride 2 up later when cools some ...sheesh i an going to like this gearing ....it seems to make hooch a super road bike now constant load increase on the final change has more lined up to motor ... seems most of my cruising i like will be around 3000 rpm now .....i did go into secondary in a couple gears ...first is more reasonable now and second takes into severe speeding zone ...power was big and the sifting stretched in time some ..making it more manageable ....cruising at high speed has been greatly lowered in rpm to a just right level ...i am happy with it so far

looks like some brake work to do yet ...i hate brakes ...expected ...front brakes too ... all other things seems good ....this will be one fine bike to travel with ... the longer 1200 swing arm has made the feel different and is also lower ...great feel there too ...there is enough gearing change here there will be some jetting adjustment to match the increased constant load change

Get some brakes so that we can hear your ride report Joe :good:

think i just got it fixed tony ... now to find some brake fluid  ride report soon i hope

:clapping: :good:
Joe...did the longer 1200 swingarm also move the lower shock mounts rearwards some? If so, that would lower the rear a little bit, as well as make it ride a little smoother....depending on how far it moved.
Nice job!!! :eek:k:

Ya know Joe, we appreciate the "caveman" tech you offer, but, PLEASE don't try to go "Flintstone" on us with the brakes!!

You've got some good boots and shoes on your feet, but they are not that good! :smilie_happy:

yes some joel ....but honda mostly move the swing arm length and the shocks went the other way ... seems like its about 1" more angle to shock ....i put on 1100 80 yr shocks ... there rather weak and spongy with no air ...but theres plenty of room i will try this way a bit .. i have 2 pair of the 83 1100 shocks also ..witch are much stiffer... the 1000 shocks would work on 1200 final drive ...and i also need to get the shocks sleeved right there different there between 1100 and 1200 shocks along with 1200 being 1" longer and much to tall ... it dose sit lower and ride softer in the rear big time ... will see if it is to much ....

gerry brakes are whipped ... right now i am trying to mod the fender some so it covers 1200 wheel right ... also working on the front brakes a bit ... getting all this mod dialed in .... so far i am pleased this is a very powerful bike with some mean road gears in it ... :thanks:

test ride in ...thimgs are dam near dialed in ....bike is smooth as can be on road ... i think the bigges difference between hooch and stock 1200 is shifting ... hooch hangs in there like a 1500 dose and theres not a lot of shifting going on now .... with the 1000 final in hooch shifting all the time as rpm built quickly ...now the gearing is totally road dog as it gets for oldwing 4 .....so when i turn around ..i laid some power down ....hooch is still frightening but much more manageable in first gear as i just eased into full throttle ...with the new gearing this is actually possible ...second was all out acceleration blast .. third too ...it really gets going in third .....knowing i was really getting fast i backed off ... at 70mph the bike just barely running and smooth as can be ..plenty of roll on power there too ....what a nice build

i think it is much nicer to be geared this way ..it really makes better use of the power this bike has :thanks:
