Makes it a great highway mile eater now, you will have to start travelling more outside your neck of the woods  :moped:

did a nice 2up ride today ....after adjusting fender ... the 80 yr 1100 shocks gave a nice comfortable ride with me and patty ... this is the bike i was wanting when i started looking at goldwing as a bike i wanted to get ....with the taller gear load on the motor now hooch has gotten lower sounding exhaust note to it .....so quite a change on the bike.....it is very mice to have such control over the air flow with throttle ... with the 2 stage carb set up ... hooch dosnt seem over geared at all ...and pulls good from idle up... i think this the cv carbs 1 or multiple weakest point they are not good from idle .....the consistency of the weber dft has made the bike the best oldwing i have ever rode

as opinion .. i would say that the 1100 final drive set up is probably the fastest set up for hooch ... i am working on jyd right now this bike will have the 1100 final set up with 1200 hooched out motor .....

more hooch stuff coming soon ...

:good: Yep, I knew you would like it, perfect set up for getting down the highway at low rpm. Got all the power you will ever need plus you should get some good mpg figures. The only problem I've found is turning enough rpm to give the battery a good charge on these 55 mph state highways. The dang thing will get you a ticket. :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

Turn off some of those lights Mike!!, :smilie_happy:

well there sure is no doubt what this bike is capable of ...sheesh with the lower rpm and the smooth running opposed 4 oldwing it just dont get much more comfortable ...

next up for hooch is mod the rim for car tire ... yep going darkside now motor cycle tires where i live wont last 3000 miles in the gravel roads and pea gravel hard roads that just roll chew and cut the rubber off of motorcycle tires .... just extremely flat out dangerous combo that i have just got to get away from .... sounds crazy but the worst time around here on the paved roads in the back country is when things are dry ... the pea gravel is loose and with such small tire contact with road ..its like riding on ball bearing tech roads ... 1000% dumb by whoever has a hand in it ....with the fatter tire patch on the road of car tires this improves this situation about 5 fold ... and where i want to be

I'm fixing to go darkside too joe and knew the rim needed modified but where do you take the 1 to 2 thousandths off at, on the outside edge of the rim or the rounded over bead edge on the inside of the rim ?

i am not positive mike but i think it inside ... should be an easy fix really in my book..with not popping to bead position ...seems to be the only thing that could cause this ... good i am glad someone else wants to go here ..between the two of us we should figure out the best way to do it

I need to look at a 1200 rim without a tire on it, my idea was to mount the tireless rim back on the otherwise running bike sitting on the center stand or jack and using the bike as a lathe, spinning the wheel, dressing the material off the rim with a whetstone. With a flat sanding block and the right paper you could knock the glaze off the rotor at the same time as there is no need to have the brake caliper mounted while doing this. Doing it this way shouldn't mess with the balance of the wheel. Have to be careful but very doable.

Cool! An 80 HP, 4-cylinder, variable-speed lathe! Put a long belt around the rim and spin a drill press, grinder, generator, fan...the possibilities are limitless!

Now if you could only convert it to steam power :builder: :smilie_happy:

went for a get use to the gearing ride today ... what a nice ride .... seems like the 1200 final is true touring gearing and i am sure its very close to the 1500 and 1800 in fifth gear rpm .... that said hooch still idles up my drive steep drive with ease ... i also figure out after coming to a stop sign that hooch will still break traction with the taller first gear ... surprise me rally .. i was already way into first gear with primary barrel of carb and then poured on the secondary barrel and it broke traction during the bump into it ... had to be going rather fast for first gear when it happen ...speedo dont work right now if it did it would be off ... great ride idle perfect

bike falls short nowhere.... could cruise all day at 90mph of it was lawful... is very fast....dont spit sputter labor ping or have just certain spots it dose well at ... :thanks:
