well i will be back at it today .... i feel hooch will be ready to dress for road duty soon ... the jetting is coming along fine ... it takes time ...at this level test rides are mandatory...who cares how it run sitting still ... riding is what we do ... so every change has to be tested ...

the single carb set up ..has been flooded with manifold designs and all ... heat and icing issues ... runner sizes .....i have found a complete lack of knowledge of the weber carb and how it works and tunes to be totally absent ... like a black hole of nothing to contribute ... i always knew this was completely not thinking right ... and never paid much attention to such thinking of on purpose failure to see what important ... i will say ...in my work the biggest and best moves of success have been in learning and adjusting the weber carb ... these carbs are one of the best ever made ...

it is such a pleasure to work with top hardware as oppose to stuff that was design bad and made to run wrong .. with all kinds of crap to right it .. and placing everything where the owner cant get to it for upkeep or try to fix the crap engineering... i know others feel differently and i am ok with that ... as it is okay for how i feel also ...and the jetting goes on :builder: :yahoo:

ill take the joe jett and the blackhearts title ...i am preasently upping idle jett to unheard of jetting LOL ...only i would go here ... hmmm first is great most of the time ... hmmm not always..... :hihihi:

hmmm oh my ... i am totally put back at how off the jetting is on hooch ... and the dft jets for small carbs ....im sorry everyone that think different ... but the jetting is so far off its the only way possible that the stock honda carbs could even compete ....the monster weber heart in hooch ... once its heart surgery is done ... will be old tech brought to the highest level witch will be really hard for new tech to beat ...

well waiting on some gas to show up ...as it is now .. i want everyone to know that the air difference on the carb i am using compared to the tom carb or the 32-32 dft with 22-22 chokes is huge ... ive ran the figures and by my calulations its ....i havnt a clue its a lot ...and i was joking i could care less what the number is ... in most all other aspects the carb passages and stuff are identical ...

point being .. carb air is preety much fixed unless you play around like i did with chokes ..tubes and stuff to cahange air ...this was huge as i learned what was up doing those things ....

it appears that hooch will max out this carb with its air flow ..... and the jetting will be at a high level ...i am right in the middle of this and will post jetting when a few test rides are done so i can post more clearly but its been a good day ... nice when things break over the top of the mountian and things look so much better on top :builder: :thanks:

okay looks like gas aint showing up for a ride today ... so i will post the jetting and where i am at .... nothing seems to be rich yet at all but this all comes from parked running ... on a couple changes i made today ...

primary barrel
idle 70.... gas 140....air 220..

secondary

transition from primary to secondary idle 80...gas 120...air 220

these setting could be real close or they might go higher ... i dont see any backing up here at all ...

it always pays to listen what people say ... but always let the job be the ultimate ruler of what works ... :builder:

Seems big jetting to me but. I don't really have any experience to base it on. Just what I've been reading. Seems you are getting all you can out of this setup.

well .. while waiting for gas the other day i started into rebuilding the way the runners attach to the heads .. as it was my plugs were trap in place ... so i raised the the whole system with round plywood gasket set up 5/8" of a inch ... now that this is done ... it allowed me to carve out enough of the ply gasket to access the plugs without getting into the grab bar runner mounting flanges ....this was always my plan but want to see some success with the set up first ...this also pretty much makes the flange super thick ... and mutes the flimsy flange concern ..

yesterday i help my son and it was a rain day and it might today ...but maybe today i might get something done on hooch

i am so close to having hooch jetted :builder:

had big problems sealing the ply plate heads spacers for testing hooch and jetting ... tool 2 cereal box gaskets and plt plate edges taped up with cheap black tape LOL ..thought you guys get a laugh out of the pics ...

anyway finally got it to quit leaking did drop the primary idle jet back down to 50 ... played with mix screw ..all other jetting the same ...

test ride started rough ..plugs were quite fouled from all the leaking the runners were doing .... so going up the gravel hill i could hardy keep it stead or in strait line throwing gravel everywhere ..i just tried to not wreck ..when i got to the paved hill it was stubbling well it was running out of gas in main tank ....on reserve now still running rough but getting better .. ad the power seemed big ....when i got to the hiway sheesh ... i tried to cleanit out some ...it woke up up and i mean to tell you it hit 80mph fast ...from there it was starting to run smooth ....on return trip home ..it ran the best or i should the fastest it ever has in excellerating... this is the fastest bike i ever been on ... i am sure i still need to continue jetting process but it has to be close ... i need to figure out permanent sealing of the runners to head ... but i am sure hooch will do well at a drag strip

sheesh what a day .... :music:

okay ...me and hooch both got up to par to go for ride .... well the conditins are perfect ... had a plug that took bit to come in cause of all harsh treatment from jetting and all involved in this single carb dialing and leaks LOL....anyway it was my goal on this ride to ride easy with lots of throttle control ... as knowing the idle circuit cover so much of the riding .....the c5 with its absolute advance system is easy to base on with thottle control from rider ....and also i really never got out of the primary barrel either on the ride ...everyone who goes this route sould practice be the fuel brain for weber .. ithink this will lead to very good mpg if jetting is close ....

all i can say is it dont matter what mpg is ... hooch is somewhat a race bike set up and to this end it is way into the success zone ... on hooch with the bigger than stock runners of 1 1/2" and the bigger than tom carb but exactlly same set up in passages ...tom carb 32-32 hooch carb 32-34 ... if ther is any bogging id sure hate to put on something else that would make stronger ..hooch would be unridable ... just kidding off idle performace is no problem at all with hooch what a monster dog it is ....

the roll on performace in 5th gear at hi way speed .... even just on the primary will pass you by anything to the point of out doing your down range path .. get in trouble here fast ....

hooch just attacks the road ... making straightaways even scary with the power laid down ....

i can see i am in a all new school of riding now and its exciting to say the least ... the sound a weber makes when it getting close to right is like no other .....there is not one sour spot in the primary ...

its nice here and i am going for another ride

:good: :moped:
Me too but it will be through traffic and to work. May get a chance to see the 86 Aspy :yahoo:

went for a long ride this time .... hooch can really cruise nicely ... smooth smooth smooth ... and power is just waiting to pounce.....i need to try and make a moving video ...there's just no words to describe where hooch is at sheesh ... ill try and set up a mount and give it a try ... you guys wont believe the power and the weber sound this bike has ...
