snd then the rain comes ....sheesh it hasn't stoped raining since the small ride I got in ...ive been able to think more on the ride some ....its hard to figure there any bad spots to the type 4 single set up for oldwings .....hooch out classing all stock oldwing carb racks ...shows me the weber carb is totally capable to bring out the power of hooch when stock system doesn't stand a chance ...plenty of carb here ....im sure there setups that would be even better if one had money to pursue it .....but the reliability factor is huge here and the only drawback is possible icing ....ill take that ...and I will work to fix this problem and then be set .... the advantages of this setup are huge ...opens up all kinds of room over motor ...nothing to hard to deal with .....like webers sticking out both sides of the bike in a weather sensitive package ....yes it looks great ...but personally I like the single tuck in nice setup here much better ...and idont think theres a huge gain in power for all the trouble the dual webers bring to the table ...

yesterday it was obvious the power the two stage weber can bring out if motor has it to give

that last statement nails down what I wanted for this bike and wear ill stop and refine this to a permanent package ...its exactly what I wanted :builder:

today hooch get the caveman tech manifold heat system pics its a original for sure ...ive seen enough to kmow its working great and getting greater as im getting things filled up with the heat transfer medium of tin foil .. acostless and perfect system to transfer water -oil-motor heat to the manifold ...I intend to completely cover the manifold right to the intake horns ....

this system will change nothing cost little and be more effective than all other ways ive seen im positive ...icing issue melted of the table  :cheeky: to all the naysayers and captian discount looney tunes ...what a piece of work this fool is had me laughing all day with bs mouth on the other forum what a complete liar ...get your lawyers bozo brain fool .... nobody on this forum listens to your mouth and no one copy any of your BS ...take your papers to the bathroom where they might have value :smilie_happy: :cheeky: :cheeky: :cheeky: :cheeky: :builder:

to all the naysayers and captian discount looney tunes ...what a piece of work this fool is had me laughing all day with bs mouth on the other forum what a complete liar ...get your lawyers bozo brain fool .... nobody on this forum listens to your mouth and no one copy any of your BS ...take your papers to the bathroom where they might have value

So I had to go take a look at what the hub-bub is all about at the other site. The capt. is on a sinking ship if he keeps filling it up with BS! :smilie_happy:

I have nothing against anyone's opinion and hope I can learn from everyone's experience here and greatly appreciate the trials and errors on these setups along with reporting the good and bad at the same time! Maybe others have perfected a single carb setup. So what? I enjoy reading about the fun of trying different things. If you make a good product and the market needs it, no problems, it will sell. But all of the putting down going on over there is just an embarrassment.

hmmm the gold leaf is impressive ...yes Gerry it I cant beleave some people and there paper brained life of the choosen ones of title ...like no one else is worthy ..what a joke ...that's why this forum works and get things accomplished and the others don't accomplish anything they don't have a adgenda to

well I got some crazy stuff going on right now ....ive got a heating blank...on hooch the best I could on the type 4 plenum to try and heat it up before I start it .....wanting to find out how much heat at first dose it take for hooch to run right ...lately it been causing huge problems till warmed up completely .....im thinking that this icing deal can be dealt with without all the plumbing and complexity of most paths taken ... but I could be entirely wrong ... im sure if I can get it to run good here where I live it should do good anywhere reasonable .....when all things are good the carb dose super well .....

will see ive got video camera now I hope to get a good video today .....im really pumped up over the mpg report by dan ...hooch is not doing that good in the mpg department to say the least :headscratch: but its great to know that mpg is not that bad and lines up with stock ok

Wow! It sounds great! Once you get the icing and return to idle taken care of, you've got a real monster there! Do these carbs come with an anti-stall dashpot, or did those go away in the 70's?

okay this video is strange first off I had the jets from to different carbs mixed up....got that strait ...this old 740 22-22 will not idle or run with open chokes at all ....could not keep it going ....

all I did was rig the spring choke and it instantly started running and idling ...

sounds lean ...but plugs are always black...hard to figure ....

after awhile I step into the secondary and it started messing up a bit and idling high ....anyway im looking for input from others I hope I explained it good enough .....there are 1" chokes in plenum outlets also leading to runners ...1 1/4 hose from there to intake horns.....tell me what you think ....

on the 429 mark I think it is I started getting high idle ...im sure from secondary barrel idle jet ... ive got a plan sort of but want to hear from others first before I blab it

I don't quite understand what made the change there.
It was idling at 1000 rpm then suddenly it was idling at 2000 rpm :headscratch:

You and I have been chatting quite a bit about using the spring to hold the choke plates closed like that.
I understand that doing this makes Hooch run better but I think the reason it does is because it's running too lean without them being pulled closed.
You said the idle mixture screw is out just a 1/2 turn?
That makes sense because as I understand it above 1000 rpm fuel is being sucked from the secondary idle circuit.
This would mean the idle mixture could be turned in and have very little effect on how it runs.

Have you tried slowing the idle down below 1000, hold the choke plates open, and turn the idle mix screw out to richen it?

I know when I had vacuum leaks the idle mix was out over 5 turns so it would idle.
As I eliminated vac leaks I could turn mix screw in until finally at the point I am now, about 1-1/2 turns out.
