I am still waiting for the back gasket but I snapped a few pictures of the housing today. We added the chamfer to the outer edge which I really like. It makes it look a bit more "finished" (my machinists words)

As a machinist I couldn't agree more on the finished aesthetic that a simple chamfer can bring to any product. Chamfers are like trim to a machinist, lol[/quote

After they made two covers I sat for a few days and stared at them. It just didn't look "right". I called the machine shop and told them I was changing the cover and they tried talking me out of it.

Once we cut them the guy who ran the lathe said "wow, that's much better!" and the rest is history. We modified every cover the next day. Thanks for the comment Bronko37 we took a gamble and I liked the result.

Awesome question!

I highly recommend installing the ignition before doing a bunch of jetting changes. It will allow you to operate under some fairly horrible carb settings until you get it right. Luckily with all the guys working on this you have much of the frustration eliminated.

You can do the carb swap first, and once you install the C5 your plug colors will change.

You want sparkplug color to be non existent. Once you start seeing tan, you stop. I would like to use the colortune that Aussiegold used. I am also building a wideband air/fuel meter (portable) for jetting projects.

That is a fact. Use the ignition to fix your other issues.

I probably shared this story at one time. Last year we created a "battery eliminator" kit for a Triumph customer. The bike we were using for electrical tests leaked fuel so bad I held a fire extinguisher as we video taped the bike running. There was literally raw gas dripping from the carb throats right onto open head pipes. Not recommended, but it stayed running with just a capacitor (the purpose of our tests). Anyone who questions the power of this ignition should watch this video.

I doubt any other forum has more guys doing the single carb swap. You will have plenty of help and the ignition really can allow you to operate the cycle with "less than perfect" jetting until things can be sorted.

As I become more familiar with the technology it has allowed us to use the ignition as an important tool for repairing screwed up carbs. If your bike doesn't run good with a C5 at least you know it's a carb problem or voltage issue. No more guessing if the coils or triggers are failing.

hmmmmmm i agree c5 will pinpoint carbs as problem....but if i had a c5 to put on bike and single carb was going on ..the old ignition going bye bye first...

I got the gaskets yesterday, so we test fit and they were wrong!
The sales rep has no idea what happened but now I wait for them to fix the issue. I pray gaskets are done tomorrow so we can make the standoff height, and begin shipping in a few days.

If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all....

The gasket is for the back of the base. It covers the 4 holes not being used, depending on what model you have.

Our cover fits on with no gaskets, so you are correct.

We needed the holes rotated so no matter what engine you have, the unused holes were blocked to keep things dry.
As you can guess, they waterjetted the holes in the wrong locations so the gasket only seals correctly on the 1500 engine.

They know we need this done NOW, so I hope things are quickly fixed.
