May be the drift thing comes from crankshaft rotation forces? they certainly throw them selfs about if you give em a handfull while stopped.

Mine will drift to the left also.
If I let go of the bars at speed there's no way I can make it go straight.
I've just gotten used to it I guess.

I've gotten used to it too by just slightly pressing on the handle bars to compensate, But the fork and oil thing could be the problem, Mine are very low if not out of oil, And my fork seals are so bad it leaks all the air out in an hour, So i want to switch to progressive springs so i dont have to worry bout airing up the forks anymore

There's an awful lot of wind pushing on that fairing...

I've noticed the same thing on mine...it tends to "wander" to the left when I let go of the bars on the road, and it's really hard to get it back on track just by shifting weight. I also thought it had to do with the rotating mass of the engine, and the right-side drive on the rear. Never even considered the rear swing arm could be adjusted to maybe counter-balance this.... :headscratch:

i think the long answer here is that if you want to get your 30 yr old wing to track right and be totaly neutral ...steering head no play and free movment.....completly redone forks....fork brace put on if you dont have....wheel and axcle working well .... new tires....this is because the tires are the best they can be and if you adjust everything when you get new tires and bike neutral the tires will wear that way and will proably get better from centrifugal froce wearing perfectly.........when the bikes off neutral and new tires are put on run the opposite happens the drifting or what ever gets increasingly worst

the 1000 wings are actully pretty easy to adjust the swing arm and when i get new tires this is the easiest thing i can do and the cheapish thing i can do to get my tires to wear evenly and maybe perfrome better than new....not real likely like big andrew ive got alot of other issues bad seals ..need new springs...need fork brace on forks this old....

Man that sucks!

Will a plug stay?

Auto tires can be patched on the inside, can a bike tire?

I heard they can be but no shop wants to do it for insurance purposes, I was told that they just tell you to buy a new tire, Plus even if they would I dont think i want to pay them $75 again for the rear tire, I payed $137 for both

My grandfather was a biker for 45+ years and he says everybody he always knew just plugged them like a car tire, And once and awhile the plug could come out and you just have to put another one in but thats pretty rare

well living in orlando nothing is off the table on what you might run over

if it was me id plug it but no more corner craving and allways check the tire

i would be getting another tire fund together what a slap down on our radial tire test program!!!!!!

BUGGER
That sucks mate, I'd plug it, your right no bike shop will because the tyre companies tell them not to  A bike tyre in normal use and good condition 'flexs' no more than a car tyre, don't belive me? get your misses to drive the car down the driveway on to street and back while you watch one of wheels

I found some Metzeler ME880's Front & Rear for $274. at the Motorcycle Superstore. But I couldn't find out if they were radials or not. Grrrrrrr!

Save up some pop bottles and get you one of these:

I'm betting it would be more useful to interrogate someone.... :smilie_happy:
That's a neat looking tool, but kinda bulky looking. I've just got the pain-jane one that fits quite nicely in the bag.
