officials begging and cajoling them to FIND votes ?

why did trump lie about mike pence role in accepting election results. ? he knew the truth.
he knew full well that mike pence could not refuse to accept the results.
and yet he egged his magamorons on to go down to the capitol and try force pence to change the results.
