Thought about a 4 into 1 but i think im still gonna run a muffler on each side. They will connect under the bike to simulate original. Or is it worth the extra work?

These bikes seem to run good with or without the crossover. Personally I prefer the crossover in place to balance the back pressure to all the cylinders.

Just a quick update on the exhaust. I am currently trying to source some parts. I do not have the capabilites to bend pipe nor do I have access to someone who does. I am trying to find some 1 3/4" OD mandrel bent pieces so we can piece this thing together and weld it up. I need 4 90 degree pieces and two 30 degree pieces for the up sweep. I have not taken the bike apart yet to make any progress because I am still hopin for some good ridin days. No sense takin it all apart till I have the parts to fix it up.

Happy new year gang!

Been awhile since my last correspondence so I figured I would chime in here and give everyone a quick hello and update.

On the 76 I just ordered the bends I need to rout the exhaust. I am looking forward to tackling this project as soon as the weather gets better. It has been bitterly cold in NW Indiana so far and I fear the worst is yet to come.

Goals for the Wings in 2015:
1976:
New exhaust system
New tires
Install C5 Ignition system
New drag bars or clubman bars, thoughts?
Corbin gun fighter seat-- We shall see how the finances go

1984 Aspencade:
New tires
Thorough cleaning of the brake system
Thorough cleaning of the clutch system
Install a 12v adaptor to hook up a GPS
Rebuild Carbs and find the cause of the light backfire -- I believe it to be the air cutt off valve

I am hoping that this year will be more ridding than wrenching. I worked hard last year. I am wanting to get all this work done by June so the wife and I can take a trip to French Lick IN on our way to the Smokey mountains to defeat the dragons tail once again.

Hope you all are well!

sounds great to me .. theres room here to stay over in a cabin out back ....

I appreciate that Joe but we would stay at my buddies cabin on the hill. Its just off of 56 about 3 miles from the grand hotels. For sure we need to hook up and ride a bit though. At least to Shoals and back....or around the mighty Patoka

I hope you have better luck with your Lasertech than me, less than 3000 miles and didn't handle any better than my Shinko 230 :(

Ok guys so this video will officially end this thread. Open headers were right out and I decided to do a custom exhaust. Over the winter I ordered up some pipe and I finally got around to fabricating the exhaust. I purchased this bike last year on eBay for $700.00 and had it shipped from Pennsylvania sight unseen. It ran but only just barely and you had to had the choke on to keep her going. So what have I done so far? I will try to do a comprehensive list:

C5 ignition
brake lines, master cylinders rebuilt, calipers rebuilt & new pads around, stripped the paint from the calipers for a raw look
new tires
replaced both head gaskets, welded and re-machined the cracked head, and new timing belts
custom exhaust system
custom handle bars and mirrors
rebuilt the carb rack
all new switch gear
cam shaft seals and main pulley seal

It seems like I have done so much more but it has been a slow process sorting this bike out and I have had a blast doing it. Personally I love this machine and think the results speak for themselves. Remember, I also have a '84 aspy for my touring and 2 up riding so this bike is purely a toy.

Thanks to all of you for your help along the way. I hope you enjoy my little video of the final product.

A little louder than I like. I already have tinitus and hearing loss. Sweet sound though with my volume down some. What seat is that?

Those pipes ARE sweet, great build! Thanks for sharing. Uhhh, you're still gunna hang around with us right?

~O~

Im not going anywhere homie...thanks for the kudos on the pipes. It seems like such a simple thing but I really had to tjink about how to get the pipes from where they were to where I wanted them. I ordered a bunch of mandrel bends and was able to piece it together thanks to a buddy of mine who is a great welder. It ended up being the exact look i was going for so I am very pleased with them.

I wish I knew what seat it was. Came With the bike, I just got it stuck on there a little better than what he had. There were things I was going to change on the bike from when I first got it, seat being one of them. But the longer I have it the more I like it. Seat is comfy and fits the bike well. Wouldn't be worth a darn across country but like I said this bike is just a toy, coolest toy I've ever had. By far my favorite bike out of all I have had.
