Joe, I hope your son is okay, my family and I will be praying for him and your family.

My wife and daughters have similar conditions that cause short term memory loss and have great difficulty remembering more than one verbal instruction at a time. They carry around a small pocket note pad that they call their "pocket Brain"! They write down anything that they need to remember, particularly computer stuff. In the back of the pocket brain, they make step by step instructions for things most of us take for granted. Hope this is useful!

my son jonas is doing better even though they kept him his appendence ruptured or i sould say leaked and realy poisoned him . we had along talk about how frail we can be under coditions out of our pysical means of doing something about it. he looks like he took a shotgun blast to the stomick they must of realy had to scamble back in my time the docs just had no clue and alot of things went bad for me i was never bitter i realy just didnt have any thing to devote to bitterness i was aware enough to know people were trying hard on my behaft and icould see that in my sons care . hopfuly he will be home soon thats all he kep saying is he wanted me to take him home

i want to thank everybody for the praying on my sons behaft and concern about me . ive been at this game for yrs and have regained all kinds of territory that was taken away from me onece iwas able to pull my pants up and fight , the reality is my gains in life and figuring out the true meaning of life far out wiegh my shortcoming and i would not want to go back for a little memory and loose what i have gained in the proscess no way thats when i was realy stupid im quite comfortable with my shortcoming . in my work i never know what the next song is even if its witten drown cause a title is just a title not a song so when this road was closed to me i learned a diferent way kinda like the blind man that can go anywhere in town he wants to so i just want everybody to know that im better off now than i ever was before all you guys and gals in this forum are always in heart thanks so much to all.

Sledge, any details about how you are going to do the pin stripping? I bought Pep Boys pin stripping and it did not hold up. :(
This is a skill I would like to hear about since I did not do it right. The second time I used the same stripping, I clear coated it afterwards hoping it would last longer. NOT!

Any suggestions are appreciated!

glad to hear your Son is doing better Joe , we have talked about you guys a bunch .... and as for the pin stripping mcgovern , I learned to do pin stripping in the 70's working for a auto dealership , don't get me wrong I'm not a professional or anything , the owner just taught me how to do it..... But, if your asking me for my advice , be sure you get all the wax or oil from your finger tips and the like off before you put the pin stripping on, or it won't stay . Regular Pin Stripping is so small that one finger print will keep it from sticking in a place close to an Inch Wide ... thats a lot for something so small. I worked for a VW and Fiat Dealer , the Fiat X 1/9 had a wide strip down the side of the car, must have been 5" wide or more , what a Pain they was . :smilie_happy:

Sledge,Paint jobs looking great, cant wait for the pics after striping.

Joe,sorry to here about your son,but glad he is doing better. Our prayers will remain with him for a full recovery. And dont feel to bad,I have a hard time with all this techno stuff to,and I got no good excuse for it.For what its worth,I never noticed you strugling.

Thanks Tory , I'm havin' a hardtime finding the pin stripping I want..... I want real dark Brown , and maybe with some glitter in it . and I'm the same way with the high tech stuff , I quit school in the 7th grade , my folks was share croppers , and I had to help on the Farm to live . I went back to school when I was 39 years old and got my GED .

nothing like going back and finishing it out EHH?? BTW I graduated College at 51

Congrats Joep , yeah it gave me a lot of Satisfaction , I never really used it , I made a pretty good living as a Diesel Mechanic , it was hard dirty work but I always felt like I Earned my Pay , and that I was doing something worth while. . .
after I got my GED , I went through 440 hours of Electronics training , I really just wanted to be able to keep my own sound equip. running... ( Musician ) there was a couple of times that came in handy. I really don't think we ever learn anything that we will ever regret.

I ordered my pin stripping today, Chocolate Brown Met. .... 5 to 7 days to get it , but , we are leaving on a Teardrop Camping trip to Crossville Thur. anyway . be back Sunday night . soon as i get it , and get it on , I'll take a Picture and post it.

Thanks for the info Sledge! I did not even consider the oil from my fingertips and we were wiping the stripping with our fingers constantly to get it shaped right. Do you stripe after the clear coat is dry or stripe and then clear coat? I am worse than a novice at this!

I am considereing painting the bike again next year and buying the original tank decals from Crescent Moon Cycles. Are decals different than pin stripping in application?

Your very welcome mcgovern , I always use a Tack Rag on the surface before I put anything on paint . and yes I put Clear over it ..... I'm not really sure I'm gonna clear coat this Goldwing , Most Clear don't hold up well out in the weather , all depends on how it looks after I rub it down some.

Speaking of pin stripping and handling your work area, I use the latex gloves and they are great for keeping your paint surface free of body oil that can just ruin a paint job. They also protect your hands from that paints and reducers.
