Timing belts mess up

Ok well I guess Jungo is not going to post what happened so I will.

It was originally thought one or more valves were damaged during a belt change when it was found both belts had slipped 2 teeth.
To help Jungo find the route cause why the belts slipped, I called him.
Throughout multiple phone calls I walked him through how to set the timing, belt tension, and verify the marks when turning by hand.
No interference verified, Jungo bought a compression tester.
All 4 cylinders had 175 pounds, so no damaged valves but there was a strange ticking/tapping noise even though valve timing was correct and the bike had run very good prior to the belt change.

Here's that video:

I had guessed the cause earlier but we were trying every other possibility before pulling the cylinder head.

I was ready to tell Jungo to pull that right cylinder head but I thought it best to give him a break from it.

Well......it turned out he had a friend come over that works on jet skis to listen and told Jungo the head has to come off.
A small metal washer was found in the right cylinder after removing the head.
Evidently it had dropped in through a spark plug hole!

Makes me think now I better get out there and thread the plugs in mine while I'm playing with the coil mod I'm working on!

The bad news is the head had to come off.
The good news is Jungo is a pro now at setting belt timing he's done it so many times. :salute:

It was also interesting to find that if you remove the valve adjusters completely from the rocker, there can be a "snapping" as the open threaded hole in the rocker moves past the valve stem as it "hangs" and snaps past it:

A friend of mine dropped a small bolt into his car's plug hole. He was panicking and I suggested he invest in a USB endoscope and a flexible magnetic retriever. We were able to retrieve the bolt through the plug hole, and he got to see the condition of his cylinders without pulling the heads. I think he paid $25 or so on ebay for the scope. Pretty cool! We did laproscopic surgery on a Pontiac.

Dan thanks for let my friends know about my issue. If I had to explain, it will taken 30 pages and everyone was confused. Google translate is not good as it appears to be.

Guys thanks for all your good wishes. OK, the head has been repaired as shown in the picture. It was a small damage due the washer. Intake valve will be replaced even it was closing fine. The old one was showing minor damage on the top.

I'm cleaning all surfaces thoroughly to remove all impurities. I will pray, buy a white lab coat, mask and will sterilize my garage before the head installation. Next Saturday will be the day. Hope at the end of the day I can scream "ENGAGE !!!"

God bless you all.

Nice videos!
I wonder tho, if having the washer in there banging on the head/piston, if it didn't damage the piston? I've seen similar stuff on automotive engines, and most of the time, it crushes the edges of the pistons enough to lock the top ring to the piston land. It still has good compression, but the ring is not able to rotate on the piston, or move as it should as the piston goes up/down in the cylinder, which eventually score the cylinder wall. :head bang:
I sure hope this hasn't happened, and not seeing very much damage to the head, it should be just fine. :eek:k:
Way to stick with it, Jungo!!! :yahoo:

It's ALIVE and back in business!!! :clapping: :yahoo: :clapping: :yahoo: After almost a month the Enterprise fire up her engine. A friend of mine helped me to install back the right cylinder head and is working like a Swiss watch. Just in time to go to Bike Week https://www.officialbikeweek.com/ in Daytona, FL next week. I'll post pics and videos of the convention. Just I need is to stick my CGW patch to my vest and viola! Guys thanks for all your good wishes and hints.

Next week..... ENGAGE!!!!
