I believe Von Steuben still holds the record for submarine peacetime tonnage!

From a Boomer, no less! I'm certain though, that having been the subject of an unintended sportfishing incident, it was forgiveable. I'm certain lt left a lasting impression on both vessels, and the people in close proximity. My partner served on both an LA and a BF class, and he said "We REALLY don't like things that go BUMP in the night..." And then something about uncharted undewater mountains? Uh... that's hail-damage, Sir... Groton gets nasty cold at times... :whistling: :hihihi:

got some good news ( for now ) yesterday. sunday while talking to my neighbor he told me that he had tested positive for covid-19, that wasn't good news cause we spend a lot of time helping each other so yesterday I went and got tested. now I feel better about going to visit my mom, her 91st birthday was yesterday

Received the 1500 side panel emblems today. Will schedule these to be done. The most interesting thing today relates to my '85 1200 Limited Edition. My late friend's son sent me a text this morning about a FB post by Ryan from FortNine. He has relocated to Vancouver, still works for FortNine, and put a request out to the masses for certain types of older bikes that he would like to feature in an upcoming YouTube video he does. One of the bikes was an older 1980s GW. Called the son and discussed this with him. He contacted Ryan about my 1200, and Ryan responded that my GW would be of interest. I was on the email so I contacted Ryan and gave him my cell number. he called, we chatted, and he is going to come to the island next week to do a day with my GW. I will be letting him ride it, but I will be in tow as a spectator. Be interesting to see how this production goes. So this afternoon it was pull the old girl out and start cleaning/polishing. Started it up after supper, smoked to beat the band, but did eventually clear up. Old gas almost a year now so some new and let it run. Stalled when throttle applied, but started to clear up after a bit, probably some crud in the fuel line. Looking forward to next week.

I'll take as many pics as I can. He has quite a presence on YouTube for FortNine. Thinking the bike will have it's 30 seconds of fame. Interesting that he would think of an older GW as a good choice for a used motorcycle - wonder what his thoughts are?

Bikes that are still running?

Got my hair cut today! Both of us wearing masks. There was the day many years ago that I wanted it long, but it would be a stringy grey thin mess now. Plan to go to the health department later on and get a drive-through COVID-19 test. No suspicion of infection, but if it helps by getting the test to get the state opened fully (and safely) it is no problem.

Every day for 31 years, Manuel rode a bicycle to the border crossing. The officers checked his passport, checked his papers, backpack, pockets, shoes, and inspected his bicycle. They even removed the seat, and looked inside the frame, the tires, etc., for hidden contraband. Never found anything.

Years later, at the border-town diner, two retired officers saw Manuel, and sat down for coffee.

"Manuel... for all those years, we KNEW you were smuggling, but we never could figure out what, or how..."

Manuel just smiled.

"Now that we're retired, and you're a comfortably-wealthy man, we'd like to sleep well at night knowing that we were not being unfair with our suspicions...
...What were you smuggling?"

Manuel smiled and said:

"Bicycles".
