Fixed the 8X8 sandbox I made for the Granddaughter this summer, put it right in the path that I ride my sled thru the yard and totally forgort about it when I got the sled out here a week or so ago for the first time, and run over it, (it's made out of 2' X 8' s ) and ripped the screws right out of the sandbox, well we fixed it good this time so I better remember it's there the next time or I'll do some damage to the suspension on the sled if I hit it again. ( put driveway markers on the corners this time) :good: :good: :good:

drove to costco to pick up a few things for mom. left costco and drove over to my sister linda"s to drop off some stuff i already had for her, we chatted for a couple hours before i headed to mom's. once at mom's i got all of her goodies unloaded and into the house we talked for about an hour, i also gave her some allowance money before leaving. because of my foot i haven't been doing much so i thought i would try a short walk on belle isle

Started to remove starter on the Interstate. Time for a rebuild.... Removing crash guards and dropping the exhaust. I wish Santa would bring me a bike lift for Xmas. Getting down to lay on the garage floor is not quite as easy as it was a few decades ago. Getting up is a whole other story. Well the exercise is probably good for me.

You get the starter done yet? You do need a bike lift, only issue is you start to think of what work/maintenance you would like to do so that you can play with the lift. :Egyptian:

Battery in the car died in the cold yesterday. Discovered that late in the day. Removed it in -10F weather to bring inside to warm up so we could start the car, then had a really fun run to three different Walmarts to find a replacement battery. Hit up the third Walmart at 10:30PM last night, thirty minutes before closing.

I did discover two things about Walmart's website. What it claims is in stock is inaccurate, and it'll happily tell me to use the wrong battery for my vehicle. If we weren't desperate for a battery, I wouldn't have bought from them, and I don't plan to in the future.

i've been wearing two pairs of sox ( one wool, one cotton ) to keep it warmer plus i had on fleeced lined jeans so my foot did good unless i turned it the wrong way. i've also added arch supports which have been a big help

Yknow, I tore apart an old Toro that had it's side crushed in...
That's a Tecumseh 2-stroke... 120cc or so... not a high-revving motor, but belt-drive...
I was thinkin'... I've got a cro-moly mountain-bike frame, full shocks up front, aluminum swingarm rear... standard (cantelever) brakes...

Mebbie I could do some creative whack'n weld to shoehorn that smoker into a superlight?
belt clutch, use the bottom-bracket and crank sprocket side as the primary drive, perhaps even a 6pd freehub in back...

Chinamart could care less ...most there competition has been forceably closed down ...

We can get batteries from most of our auto parts stores or the pseudo-farm big box place. I prefer Interstate, but I buy batteries so rarely that I have to google to make sure what brands are still good.

My house was built about the turn of the 20th century. 10 years ago, when I got a second week of vacation at work, I started doing home renovation. Electricity was retrofitted to the building, slat and plaster walls, no insulation. So, one room at a time, I've been stripping it down to the studs and doing a full rehab. For the next 2 weeks, I'll be in the original bathroom, on the second floor. This is what I was faced with this morning.

The tub is on the side porch and will be brought to a guy who does re-enameling.

The sink will get new faucets. I hate that I can only wash my hands in either all hot or all cold water.

This is the result of the day's work. The corner of the base broke off many years ago. I'm trying a 2 part epoxy. We'll see.

Great to see you’re stripping back to the studs. I’ve wired so many older homes where they bypass that so plumbing and electric make separate messes opening up. Then there’s patches to do everywhere or they skin the walls and ceilings with 1/4” drywall. In the end still no insulation or they do that blown in crap in each bay.

Deconstruction finished by the end of the day Monday. This morning, Dad and I will be pulling a thousand tiny nails out of the studs. Then we start putting it back together.
