Pop Rivet trick on the 34 Pict-3?

Many years ago I was an avid VW junkie, I have owned around 36 Aircooled VWs. And, because they are what they are, I had to work on every one of them. Other than a few that I had Dual Carbs on, nearly all of the them ran a 30-2 or a 34-3 carb. One of the issue we would have with them was when...

    Foot Throttle?

So, back in my younger days I broke my wrist. Now I have severe arthritis in my right wrist. Over the past few years it has fused to the point that I have no movement at all. I can no longer twist the throttle on my bikes. Currently I have 2 bikes, 1 BMW R1100RT and a Custom Naked 1984...

    Carb linkage suggestions 32 PICT-3 on a 1200

I am working on my SCC, 1984 Wing with a DKL PVC manifold. From what I am seeing the carb bowl faces the rear of the bike. What are you using for the linkage? Any pictures would be wonderful. In all the searching, that is the one thing that seems to be left out of all the conversions.

    Darksiding my GL1500SE

So, for years I have been interested in going to the dark side with a bike. I had a GL1100, no tire options for that, a KLR650, no reason to on that one even if tires were out there. A CB500X, again no tire options, and a BMW K1200lt. The BMW had a swing arm design that would not allow the wide...

    94 Goldwing SE or 2000 K1200lt?

So, a while back I had a 1982 Goldwing, then I traded it in on a BMW K1200lt. My wife would ride on either bike and seemed fine with them. Then I got a KLR 650 and rode it for a while along with the BMW. I then decided to trade the BMW in and sell the KLR to get a 2015 CB500X. I have now...

    1982 GL1100 Interstate for sale

For Sale 1982 Honda Goldwing GL1100. This has been a great bike for me. I have ridden this bike all over Washington. I have been to the east side several times in the time I have had it. I have also put a lot of work into it to make it reliable. I have used it as my daily ride to work for the...

Time for me to move on

Well, I have had my 82 GL1100 for a little while and I have really loved this bike. It has been a great bike to travel around Washington and to commute with everyday. I have however decided that commuting with a 32 year old bike was just not the best for me. So, I am selling my bike, but don't...

Keeping the Wing vs. getting something else?

Well, this may be just a rant, or me talking out loud, looking for a sounding board. I have an 82 GL1100I, I like the bike for the most part and have done a lot to it over the last year. New battery, fork seals, rebuilt heads, timing belts, brakes front and rear, throttle cables, speedo cable...

Oh, the joys of vintage bike ownership

This last I ordered a new set of push and pull throttle cables for my 82 GL1100. I had just installed new brakes, new tires and new front wheel bearings. So, this Saturday I went on a ride over 3 of the mountain passes(Snoqualmie, Blewett, and White Pass). The ride was great and about 350...

    32 DFT vs. DFEV,DGEV?

I am looking into the single conversion. I have not been able to find many DFT webers, I do see plenty of DFEV and DGEVs listed. Has anyone used one of these? Or, what is a source for the DFT?

Any reason to upgrade from an 1100 to a 1200?

I have a nice 1200 that I really like, but I am not real happy with the RPM it turns on the hiway. Does the 1200 have better hiway gears in it? Is there any other advantage to go to the 1200 over the 1100? I have looked at the 1500 and they are real nice and I know would be better on the hiway...

    MPG with single carb?

I am interested in doing the single carb conversion on my 82. I am a little worried about the MPG change. Is it better or worse than good running factory rack? I am currently getting about 40 MPG and would not want to go down from there, I ride 90+ miles a day 5 days a week.

info needed on changing rear tire

Well, my rear tire is done, worn out completely. I am ordering a front and rear set and want to be sure that I get everything put back right. I pulled the tire off and kept everything together as I pulled it off, I think. Is there a picture, diagram, how-to etc? I would rather know I am putting...

    back on the road

I am so pleased, my 1100 is back on the road. I had to rebuild the heads, replace all the gaskets, lap the valve etc. I was working on an alternator conversion ala, but I am wRiting to finish that till later. It is so nice to have my bike back running. Now if the weather will just get better.

    Vesrah VS Honda head gaskets

Well, I followed the advice I got here on this forum and ordered the Factory Honda head Gaskets and the Vesrah gasket set. I pulled them both out of the package and they are the same. I can not find any difference. I took some pictures to show the two. I have placed them one on top of the other...

    I need to vent

Well, I am not angry with anyone, just frustrated that I can not ride. So, several months ago I decided to replace the cam seals on my 1100. I pulled them out and ended up pulling the bike farther apart. I am glad I did, I pulled the heads and found that the valves were getting a little burned...

Need advice on head gaskets for my GL1100I

I recently took the heads off my bike to redo some things, lap valves, etc. I now need to get the gaskets to put it back together. I called a local dealer and was told they sell a complete set made by Vesrah. I have found those on E-bay also by that name. I have seen on here not to use any heads...

Check out what this guy is doing with an 1100 Wing

I have had an interest in 3 wheel cars like the Tri-Magnum, Morgans, and others. I found this guy making one out of a Goldwing GL1100. Too bad he cut up a nice bike, but the work he is doing on the car is first rate. I am not fond of the front end treatment yet, but he is not done. Check it...

What do you think of the F6B?

I was looking at the F6B and at first I thought it was a waste due to not having reverse and no trunk, but then I looked at it a little bit more and kind of like it now. I am still youngish (44) and can still push my GL1100 back just fine, I am 6 ft tall and have long legs, so I can always flat...

Low compression, could it be valves?

Well, my 82 GL1100I was running good I thought, then I replaced a cam seal and in my stupid rush I did not notice that I had the right cam off one tooth and I bent a valve. Yes I know better, not my first rodeo and I got cocky and screwed up. However I wanted to verify before pulling the heads...
