To do the compression test did you have all 4 plugs out, throttle wide open and lots of strong battery?

Yes that is the correct method. Harbor Freight compression testers also read low (both of mine do anyway) but the real promising thing is they are consistent.
You look for values that are within 5-8% of one another so I think your engine is perfectly fine.

:salute:

This one is done... for now!

I just got back from a compete test ride and I think that little gadget spinning on the back of the motor is a marvel!

One other observation is that if you ever take the battery box off, remember to hook the plastic fender on the rear lower corner to prevent yourself from working long hours into the night tearing the rear end apart looking for a problem that didn't exist. Did you know that the plastic fender when it comes in contact with a spinning wheel sounds just like a wheel bearing or final drive falling apart! :head bang:

I think the thing that amazes me the most is the lugging power that this bike now has. Sure it revs up through the gears and will take off, but I was in 5th gear and 2000 rpms and coming out of a turn, before I would have been down shifting to 3rd just to get up to speed again. Not now. I just need to twist the wick and it will just run right back up to speed without and chatter.

That's it for now! Time to go for a ride.

The increase in torque and smoothness down low and so much less trama noise coming from the engine, to me makes the c5 worth it in itself.
It's something that has to be experienced to be appreciated.
Welcome to the club Brian.

Is there a "Fender Bearing" patch you can earn for your riding jacket? LOL Glad it all worked out.
