Good luck with your finals and student loan Marty :beg:

Thank you Ansimp, I think I did all right.

So I finally got enough $ to get Aretha running and street legal. I am not sure if I need any gauges though.

Do I need a speedo on a old motorcycle like that in California?
I know I only legally need one mirror.

I ordered turn signals, brake light brake pistons, brake pads, tires, battery and some little OEM fasteners and little missing pieces.

Does anyone have the ring that holds the fuel level sensor in place. I think I accidently threw mine out. I was thinking of just welding it shut considering that I am not going to use it.

Welding an old gas tank was never a good idea. Epoxy and or rivet a cover on if you just want it closed up.

I am going to keep searching until it is time to fill it with gas, if I cannot find it, I am going to go to the salvage yard or get an ebay one... and then the next day I'll find it as usual lol :Awe:

On a good note...
I did some Cali law research and found this awesome AMA page that simplifies motorcycle laws, state by state...

https://www.americanmotorcyclist.com/Rig ... -Laws.aspx

I found out, that I do not need a horn or any gauges on my mike (that's what I was hoping for).

If I didn't have Speedo...I'd have lots of tickets

This bike reminds of my old air cooled Volkswagens more everyday, no tach, no warning lights, flat four, etc...

Tires and wheels yesterday, I also sanded/painted the front forks and started prepping the exhaust for the heat wrap. They sent the wrong wheel bearing for one of the wheels, so that may hold me up a bit having to return them...

nice work
+1 :good:

I transferred to San Francisco State University this semester, and my car burnt a valve the first week of school. So I have been selling my Volvo, buying a 1997 Civic DX (base trim, D16 engine). I had to do some neglected preventative maintenance like:
Timing belt
water pump
TB tensioner
all 3 engine/trans mounts
cap/rotor/wires/plugs/timing
valve lash adjustment
slave cylinder/fluid flush
air filter
fuel filter
under hood degreasing
valve cover gasket
oil filler cap leak
fuel injector cleaner

mods...
short throw shifter
entire Stereo replaced/upgraded with two 10" 350RMS subwoofers.

...so I haven't had a moment to spend on the Goldwing. Now that I have got a little settled I am going to drive up to my garage and do work on Aretha. I also live close to a great cycle salvage place now so I am going to pick up a couple of missing pieces that I need.

Maybe an update this weekend.

Sorry about the Volvo Marty, good to see that you should be getting back on the GW project :good:

I never stopped, just slowed to a crawl.

I was going to work on it this weekend but ended up working on my car and fishing instead lol

It is good to be back on here.
I have been super busy with school, fishing, and maintaining my Civic.

I am now on winter break from school, so I did a little more work on the Aretha. I mainly finished up a few sub projects...
Changed rear wheel bearings
Assembled brake assemblies
Installed rear brake and wheel
Torqued triple tree, shock clamps, and axle pinchers
Installed controls
Installed handlebar risers (the bars where interfering with the air shock hoses).

So, she is now standing on her own two feet, she shifts into first, second an neutral fins so far.

She still needs
All fluids
false gas tank
seat
blinkers
battery
headlamp
front brakes
exhaust

Here is a current pic...
