It was actually Friday and I registered the Rats Nest with its new vanity plate as a single seater ( saves about $200 in rego per year) and increased my insurance cover so that I can now ride 104 days per year ( extra $60). I wasn't using the Rats Nest enough on Special/Club rego so I needed this change. I figure 2 days a week is hopefully enough as I currently have 3 bike registered and 2 cars ( if you include the wife's).That said I rode it yesterday and today ( Sunday). New week starts on Monday right?

Special or club registration is only for a 15klm test and tune ride, travelling to a workshop/mechanic etc or for club events. The club event could be on the other side of the country and could even be an affiliated clubs event. My insurance is now only for 2 days a week unless I want to upgrade( pay more) and then I can ride it all the time on my new registration which is for only a rider not a pillion ( remove the rear pegs and cover the seat with a hard cover or remove the padding where the pillion would sit).

God save the Queen. :cheeky: In Ohio a historic plate is issued on request, if the vehicle is 25 years old & not your primary means of transportation, & only pleasure rides. :music3: Not a work vehicle, or for business, well they expire on your 100th birthday & cost less than 1 year of regular plates. :music: Well I'm old & past working for a living, my 1200's already old & wearing histerical plates, my 91 was bought new & this will be the last year to buy a regular plate for it. Next year it will get histerical as well, leaving me to buy one for my car & one for wife's, insurance is about $50 a year per bike, & no limit on how many days, or how far you ride. Sooo far they haven't tried that B S here in the colonies, :good: but give them time what do you think that on star sh-- is? they can track you, without you subscribing to the service, know where you drive & how fast. :cheeky: None of their business, & older stuff make it harder, for them to mind yours

I finished removing the fairing....then I started small by replacing the illumination lights in the gauges with LEDs while the gauges were still wired up...then buttoned them up, removed them and set them aside. Then I attacked the carb rack (this is my first wing so this is all new to me). Got everything disconnected...the manual and a thread I found both said to remove the tops of #1 and #3...well, one of the screws would NOT budge! Lo and behold with a bit of careful wiggle and jiggle the rack came right out! I'll get the carbs drained and the outside cleaned up and then I can bring them inside the house where it's warm. My only issue was a bad accelerator pump diaphragm but I bought a full rebuild kit.....I'm planning on replacing everything that doesn't affect adjustment. Once I get it back together w/ oil change & valve adjustment I'll pull the forks & get on with bearing replacement...

Looking good.

Thank you. I continued today with a while lot of scrubbing and painting. I cleaned up the pegs, kickstand, coolant ducting, timing belt cover (5 coats of chip resistant clear coat for rock protection). I basically couldn't install any parts because they where all dirty and worn, so I painted and polished them instead. Next is painting the wheels and ?

Be sure you pull and clean all the jets. I prefer to do one at a time and reinstall it before going to the next. I don't mix them up that way. If that is an 83 carb rack the jets should unscrew. Be sure to use a screwdriver that fits tightly in the jet or it can slip.

What leds? I am researching how to wire my own led panels for the 12v system. I was going to integrate them into the rear fender. Are you doing a underglow kind of thing?

wow nice i like the black swing arm with it all is that staying like that ...i like it for sure

Thank you. It is staying like that. I actually just cleaned the swingarm, it is probably the most beat up thing that I am putting "as is" back on the bike. I like the way the coolant ducts turned out after painting, it adds some sharp contrast.

Today I put on the coolant ducts, timing belt cover and kickstand that I painted/polished. I also cleaned and flushed the radiator. I am going to tackle the rebuilding of all 4 carburetors next time. I love detailing parts off of the bike! lol
